The Librarians

Chapter 2

Ezekiel groaned and opened his eyes. His whole body ached. He felt as if he had gotten run over by a truck several times over. He tried to to sit up, but failed when pain shot throughout his body. He groaned again.

"Jones, just stay put." Flynn said.

"Doesn't look like I'm going anywhere, does is?" Ezekiel snapped.

Flynn ignored his attitude and continued. "Eve and Cassandra went to try and find a spell to heal you."

"Good luck with that." Ezekiel said and then passed out from the pain.

Flynn watched Ezekiel's chest rise and fall. Jankiens walked into the room and stood beside him. "He's a strong kid."

"Yeah, but that's just it. He's a kid and Edward tortured him. Ezekiel could have told them wherr the artifacts were but he chose not to. And he got hurt." Flynn said. "And Edward was supposed to be dead. I couldn't even kill him. I thought I did......but he's alive."

"You can't blame yourself for what happened." Jankiens said.

"Oh yes I can. I--" He stopped himself when Eve and Cassandra ran in.

"We found a healing spell!"

"Then come on."

"Wait." Stone said. "It'll heal him, inside and out, but it won't erase what happened to him. He's basically scarred for life." He pointed out.

"Stone is right." Eve said. "Trust me I know."

"Just hand me the spell." Flynn said. Cassandra handed it to him and he read it out, "Atra veneulum ofrece acala." The bruises, burns and Ezekiel's broken wrist and ribs healed. "Now we wait for him to wake up."

Ezekiel woke up, staring at the ceiling wondering why he didn't feel any pain. Realization dawned on him. Oh. They must have found the spell. He sat up and Eve, Cassie, Jake, Jankiens and Flynn were watching him.

"How do you feel?" Flynn asked.

"A thousand times better, thanks to you mate." Ezekiel said but that was a lie. He may have been healed but he had been tortured and his mental state of mind was a bit off. Honestly, he kept seeing Edward, but he would shake his head slightly to clear it.

They all knew he wasn't alright. Or 'a thousand times better'. They knew that he was suffering.

"Ok." Flynn said. "Cupids arrows were stolen yesterday by the Serpent Brotherhood last night. Guys you have to get them back."

"Great. A mission." Ezekiel said.

"Maybe it's best you stay here. Just to be safe." Jankiens said.

"Uh....profesional theif here? How else would they get Cupids arrows back?" He asked spreading his arms wide.

"Flynn's right, Jones." Eve said. "You should--"

Ezekiel cut her off. "I'm coming with." He said stubbornly and stormed out of the room.

"What are we gonna do with him?" Eve sighed.

"I have no idea." Flynn answered watching his retreating back.
