Day Trip; the trip that brought them closer together.

A SUBTLE KNOCK TAPPED ON the door before it opened, revealing Glass.

"Well, you learned how to knock. Now maybe you can learn how to wait for someone to open it before wandering in," Millicent laughed, approaching her from the kitchen to the living room. Living quarters were medium sized, enough room to roam but it wasn't wide open space like Millicent wished. "Shut up, M," Glass rolled her eyes, handing her a blue sticky note. "Your dad caught me on my way over, wanted me to give this to you."

Millicent snatched the note, raising her eyebrows while reading it. "He wants me to bring a file to Abby Griffin in Ark Station Medical. We'll just have to make the stop before heading to the Factory Station," Millicent headed over to her father's file cabinets. "File number?" Glass assisted, pulling a drawer out with ease.

"File 2B-6," she glanced back at the note. Before Millicent could even open a drawer, Glass removed a folder and made a simple clicking noise with her tongue. "File 2B-6," Glass offered her the file.

Millicent grasped the file in her hand, groaning when a file slipped out from beneath it. "Damn it, Glass, there was a file underneath."

The file emptied itself of its contents, pieces of white paper surrounding their feet on the floor. The two girls bent down to fix their mistake with file 2B-7, but Millicent froze when her eyes hit the document name on the file.

Millicent Lilith Kane and Carra Luna Kane

"Who is Carra?" Glass leaned over to see what caught Millicent's eye. Millicent frantically gathered all of the papers from the file, shifting through them. "This is my birth certificate," Millicent realized, handing it to Glass as she came across another.

"This is to certify that Carra Luna Kane, weighing five pounds seven ounces, was born on the 16th day of March, to the beloved parents Marcus Kane and Veronica Kane," Millicent read aloud. Her saliva thickened as she gulped roughly.

Glass stared at her in shock. "Oh, my God," Millicent's hands covered her face as she tried to comprehend. Glass placed her hand gently on Millicent's back to comfort her. "March 16th is my birthday," Millicent shook her head.

"She was your twin," Glass whispered sorrowfully.

The soft creek of the front door turned their attention. Marcus stood in the doorway, gazing down at the teenagers with a blank expression. "Glass," he spoke softly, "why don't you go home and Millicent can come over later."

Glass gave a subtle nod, avoiding eye contact with Millicent's father as she shuffled out of the room. Millicent tried her best to regain her composure, wobbling to her feet. "Who is Carra?" She shook her head emotionally as her lip quivered, "don't tell me what I'm thinking is true."

She knew what happened to twins on the Ark, everyone knew. Twins were a curse when only one child was permitted. Twins were also rare, happened less than twice every decade.

Marcus made his way to Millicent, engulfing her in a tight embrace. "Your mother should be home any minute, let's wait for her."

"We're not waiting for her," Carmen strictly told Glass. "You don't need a stretcher," Miller nodded, "I can just carry you."
