Abby and I walked up the familiar path leading to the rustic lodge in upstate New York. "Hey, ladies!" a voice called, but it wasn't the familiar voice of our head coach, Jill Ellis. This voice was different, younger. Standing at the door to the Lodge was a woman with shoulder-length brown hair pulled up in a ponytail. Abby dropped the duffel bag she was carrying. "MIA!" she yelled, running and hugging the woman. I grabbed Abby's bag and ran after her. "Oh my god, it's been too long!" the woman was saying, hugging Abby tightly. I finally recognized the woman. "You're Mia Hamm!" I said. "The one and only!" Mia said, laughing. "What are you doing here?!" Abby asked. "Jill wanted me to take her place as head coach." Mia said. "She said she was getting a bit old for the job." "How do you two know each other?" I asked. "We were best friends in college." Abby said. ((A.N: I know that Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach didn't go to college together. Roll with it.)) "How do you know about me?" Mia asked me. "In seventh grade, we had to do a presentation about someone who made a difference, and I chose you." I said. "Also, Abby gave me this for my birthday." I pulled a rather battered book from my backpack. The title read Number 9 on the Field, Number 1 in the Books by Mia Hamm. "So, what's the deal with you two?" Mia asked. "You and Abby. Are you dating, or what?" Abby and I looked at each other, then laughed. "No." I said. "We're sisters." Abby said. "She's dating Tobin." something like relief flashed across Mia's eyes. "I see." she said. "So, with your project, the way I made a difference was the Title IX stuff, right?" "Yeah." I said. "That, and you're only the best U.S. women's soccer player in history!" Mia laughed. "I dunno." she said. "You and Abby could give me a run for my money." "Let's get inside." Abby said. "I think Thalia's anxious to find a certain midfielder." "Shut up, Abby." I said.
A.N: Dat picture doh. Abby Wambach used to have hair that long? Wut?
