"Just go away, Jake, just go away," I cried out. I covered my face in my hands and started to walk away, sobbing, when he grabbed my shoulder. "I said, go away."
"Beth, I didn't mean to! It wasn't my fault," he tried to explain. I knew it wasn't true, it was just another petty lie to try and make up for the wretched things he had done.
"Oh really?!" I asked, spinning around to face him, "You didn't mean to kiss a girl and to hug her and to tell her you loved her?! It wasn't your dang fault to cheat on me?!" My face is hot with fiery rage.
"She kissed me! She hugged me!" He yelled back at me. How could he not say that he did the things I saw him do? What kind of a backstabbing, cheating boyfriend is he?
"But you're not going to say anything how you said that you loved her, just like you said to me all those times," I responded icily. I could see a few people from the concession stand staring at us, but I didn't care. I was making a scene, the world needed to know what a jerk Jake was.
"Okay, maybe I did that, but I didn't mean to! It slipped out of my mouth," he replied, "I thought it was you that hugged me and kissed me, my eyes were closed."
"Okay, then why did you stay with her after you said 'I love you' and opened your eyes?" I asked, "Even an idiot like you wouldn't have their eyes closed for five minutes."
"Okay, maybe my eyes weren't closed and I did know it wasn't you, but I was in the heat of the moment. I didn't mean it, babe," he said, caressing the side of my face. I smack his hand away and stare right into his lying, cheating eyes.
"First of all, don't you dare call me 'babe' right now. Second of all, what if we get married one day like you always talk about? Yeah, we're only twenty-two, but we've dated for four years. How do I know that one day, when you're married, you won't just go up to some girl, kiss her, hug her, and tell her I love you," I point out, "How can I stay with somebody that gets sidetracked by the heat of the moment?"
"Elizabeth, it was my cousin."
"What?!" I shrieked, "That would've been good information, about five minutes ago."
"Yeah, her name's Sarah, and you probably remember her form the family reunion," he said.
"I do remember a Sarah with long brown hair, but why didn't you tell me this five minutes ago? And why were you kissing her?"
"I wasn't kissing her," Jake smirked.
"Um, what?" I asked. Just then, a large camera crew came out from behind some bushes, and Sarah and 'Jake' come out too.
"You've been pranked!" Jake exclaimed. I smiled and kissed him and he kissed back.
"I knew, deep down, that you would never do that," I whisper to him.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I replied.
"And one more thing," he said. He got down on one knee and I put my hands over my mouth in shock. "Elizabeth, I love you so much, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"
"Yes!" I exclaimed. The camera crew cheered as we came together in a hug.
And that's how my fiancé proposed to me.
