It was exactly 9 in the morning when Sofia walked through the kitchen from the back yard trying to catch her breath from her run that morning. She hadn’t slept well that night; all she wanted to do was find Harry and fall into his arms. But, he didn’t want her anymore. He walked away. He was done. As she walked into the kitchen, she ran right into Louis who looked relieved and then annoyed to see her. He held up the note she had left this morning for them.

“You’re not supposed to just leave a note!” he snapped, taking in her appearance.

“I went for a run!” Sofia said, “No one was awake, so I left a note.”

“What if something had happened?” Louis asked, Sofia shuffled by him, grabbing a pear from the counter.

“It didn’t,” Sofia said

“But what if –“

“Louis, she’s fine,” Eleanor whined from the table where she was sitting getting ready to go out with Ella and Emily, “Just leave it.” Louis growled, but left it alone.

“Daisy’s here, she’s in the office, come on,” Louis said, stomping past Sofia, who followed him. She was in a sports bra and shorts when she entered Liam’s office causing most of the boys to groan. Sofia avoided looking at Harry who was leaning against a wall behind Liam who was sitting at his desk. Niall was seated at the window. Louis sat next to Zayn on the couch, and Daisy sat in a chair in front of Liam’s desk. The minute Sofia walked in her head went down. Sofia looked at the girl, who looked so much younger then she had the last time she saw her. She felt pity on her. She didn’t want this; she was forced into this.

“So look,” Sofia said, breaking the awkward tension in the room, Daisy glanced up at her, “I don’t apologize. Ever. Because usually I’m right.” Liam scoffed at the statement, but Sofia ignored him.

“But, I owe you an apology,” Sofia said, “I shouldn’t have freaked out on you that night and I shouldn’t treat you the way I have been.”

“It’s okay,” Daisy said quietly.

“No, it’s not. The thing is, we have to have each other’s backs in this. And I know that. And I let feelings that had nothing to do with you get in the way. But, I have your back now. And, especially with these guys, us girls have to stick together. So I hope you have mine too.” All of the boys were looking at her with pride as Sofia spoke. They know it took a lot for her to say what she was saying.

“I do,” Daisy said, “Have your back, I mean.”

“Good,” Sofia said, as she sat on Liam’s desk looking down at the girl. Daisy still looked scared of her, afraid that Sofia would lash out at her at any minute. And although a part of Sofia wanted to keep her scared, she knew that in order for Daisy to succeed tonight, she had to trust that Sofia wasn’t playing her.

“Look,” Sofia said, “You messed up. And it wasn’t even that bad. No one got hurt; the job got done. So let it go. Everyone messes up. No one’s perfect.”

“You are,” Daisy said, confidence in her voice, “Body of a model, face of an angel, dance moves like the devil. All the girls call you the grim reaper, all a man has to do is look at you and it’s official he’s dead. You always get the job done.”

“They’re still calling me that?” Sofia growled, “I hate that!”

“But it’s true,” Daisy said, “Isn’t it?” Sofia looked down at the girl before sighing.

“It’s true now. Now I can walk into a club, out dance any girl on the floor, flirt with any guy, and manipulate anyone. Now I can do that. It wasn’t always that way. I’ve messed up, probably the most out of anyone in this room.”
