Chapter 4

~Joey's POV~

I arrived at Shane's moms house, I hadn't felt nerves until now. I knew she'd seen the video of the date, but she knew it was only a dare? It didn't mean anything. Right?

It was only 7:30am. Would they be up yet? I knew Shane would be sleeping, he never wakes up before noon? But would Teresa be up? I knocked on the door and waiting. I smelt of booze. Will they notice?

I could hear Charlie and Chocolate barking from the yard. Someone's up? Teresa then answered the door.

Teresa: Joey! Good morning sweety. You look awful!

Joey: Morning Teresa. It's been a long night. May I see Shane? He said he was hear and I wanna check he's okay.

Could I sound anymore in love with him?

Teresa: He's upstairs in his room. You need anything? An aspirin or breakfast?

Joey: no thank you

I sounded a bit rude. I didn't even look her in the eyes. I just needed to know Shane was okay. I know how he can when he's hit rock bottom.

I quietly opened his door. His back was towards me, and he was curled up. I couldn't really tell from this angle if he was sleeping or not. I approached him with caution.

Joey: Shane? You awake?

I then saw it. A blade on his desk. I knew he'd self harmed before, but I didn't want to believe he still did. I picked up, and three it out the slightly open window.

He was asleep. His face was damp from tears, and he had a tissue in his hand. I'm hoping for his tears and nothing else. I saw the small cuts down his arms. It hurt. I wanted so badly to know who had done it. Who had caused so much pain to my Shane to make him believe that this was what he needed to do. I'd kill them. Shane doesn't deserve this. No one does.

At this point, I wasn't too sure what to do. I could leave and go home or sit and wait. But, more than anything I wanted to just hold him. He looked so fragile and delicate.

I planted a kiss on his forehead, softly so I wouldn't wake him. Then I laid across the bottom of the bed, like an obedient puppy, waiting for him to stir.

~Shane's POV~

I wake up with a stinging headache. Had I really cried that much? I sighed and rolled to my back, considering spending the rest of the day in bed. I looked at my phone, no reply from Joey. That hurt. I needed him so much and he wasn't there.

I looked over to my desk. The blade I'd used to create slits down my wrists. It was gone. I sat up, hoping that I'd accidentally move it. I was itching to get get cutting again. I sat up to look around, and I saw him. His big, shiny green eyes looking into mine, his soft lips curled into a smile. His usual spikes hair was a mess. But it was attractive...

Joey: Morning

Shane: what time is it?

Joey: about 9?

Shane: when did you get here?

Joey: only 5 minutes ago

~Joey's POV~

I lied. I'd been here hours. Just watching him sleep. More than once I'd walk over and put my face just inches away. Tempted to take advantage and kiss him again. But I resisted. He started looking around the room for something. The blade.

Joey: what you looking for?

Shane: nothing. I'm glad you're here. It's been a tough night.

I crawled up the bed and sat next to him. He tried so hard to hide his blushing cheeks. But I saw them.
