Chapter 7

"All we know at the moment my queen, is that the king was injected with a toxin" the Beta began, "We are unable to figure out what it is but Gabriel is working on finding out"

"Explain this to me, why hasn't anyone bothered to inform me that my mate has been poisoned?" I demand, I was beyond furious. We're these men truly that ignorant or just pain stupid.

I just couldn't fathom why, they wouldn't have come to me first. My mates health is my concern, did they really believe that they coup keep this hidden from me. And if so, exactly how long did they think it would take for me to realise that my mate hasn't been to our room, greeted me or even seen his kids.

There is no way that these well educated men, thought that they could get away with this.

"Well...um Well my Queen"

I could already see the wheels turning inside the enforcers head, as he tried to figure out a way he could spin this.

"Again enforcer, I don't expect an answer if it's going to be a load of crap" I took a deep breath and took my seat at the head, with my water bottle in hand and my cubed pineapples "now what do we know about th person that did this?"

"All we know is that this was premeditated, the poison was served via the kings food at the Alpha meeting last night."

"That is it, that is all you guys know? It has been two days already and all you can tell me is that the His food was poisoned last night!" I couldn't believe this "a high school kid who watches enough movies or reads mystery novels could have guessed as much. So I don't expect such a candid explanation from 6 grown ass men. I expect... I want more by the sunset. I want to know how, why, by who and with what these people did this. And I expect more than your thoughts. Am I being understood, gentlemen?"

"Yes ma'am.." they replied simultaneously, and got up to leave.

"Beta Jake, Enforcer Blake and delta Joseph stay behind"

The rest of the men shuffled out of the room, seemingly glad to be getting the hec out of here. I don't know why, I'm not a bad leader, plus I'm not as scary looking as Jordan is.

However, I did have experience in taking charge and leading a bunch of killer men. Well not really me but what I observed in the bass, my stepfather was the First lieutenant so I learnt a few things here and there, while I lived with then at the base. My mom was a medic at the army hospital. We moved around a lot until I was old enough to get my own place, the military just wasn't for me.

I faced the three men that I trusted, all because my mate did. I could already feel the oppressive thought of losing my mate consume, the fear of losing him before our journey actually began. I felt the adrenaline slowly dissemate, and the depression of the viod I felt take its place. I had to figure out what is going, get my mate back and thoroughly punish the person that did this to my mate, to the king.

"I need one of you to oversee that all the food in the castle is clearef and replaces. I don't want to to put any one else in charge, we have no idea what was poisoned."

"I get right to it, my Queen" with delta Joseph left to get his part done.

"Thank you Delta" I said in appreciation before he left, closing the door behind him.

"Okay, Enforcer I need you to take my mate to our suite. And clear the east wing, no one but you three must be allowed besides the Royal family. Do you understand Enforcer? Nobody will be able to see my mate, I will take care of him from now on. With the help from the Royal Prince Gabriel."

"Is that all, my Queen?" The enforcer questioned

"Yes, please tell the Prince that he is to stay in the east wing with us."

"Yes AlphaQueen"

After I dismissed Enforcer Blake, Beta Jake as the only one left with me.

"What can I help you with my Queen?" He questioned, but to be honest all the things at the top of my head were being taken care of as we speak.

"Make sure to notify all Alphas, to be extra vigilant" I stopped him before he could leave, "don't alarm them, we can't afford them causing chaos. Only when there is a need, will I Make It clear that I have temporarily taken charge."

"Yes Alpha"

With the final dismissal, Beta Jake left and closed the door. I let out a sigh of relief, while taking of my shoes to try and release some tension. I closed my eyes and rested my head, just for second before I had to get up again.

I must of fallen asleep because I woke up to Luke shaking me lightly, to try and wake me up.

"Mom, supper is ready"

"Okay, thank you baby"

I lightly brushed his hair that had fallen on his face, he needed a haircut, I should have been more aware of these little details.

"Are you okay? Is dad going to be alright?" He questioned. My little man was acting so grown up, I wish I could shield him from all of this.

"Don't worry baby, I'm going to take of everything. Go get cleaned up for me okay" I instructed

"Okay"

He lift reluctantly, his father would be so proud with all his fretting over every little thing I did.

"Come on little ones, I need to feed you"

I rubbed my belly in a soothing manner, I never thought I could miss the little kicks they tortured me with every time their father was nearby.

Now I felt nothing...
