Eren made his way through the crowd of guests, trying not to push them out of the way. He tried to keep his eyes on the other boy's position, not wanting to lose track of him. Eventually, they met up at the far edge of the crowd in a secluded corner of the room, hidden behind a heavy curtain.

Levi and Eren stopped, taking in the sight of each other. Up close, Eren discovered that the other boy's eyes were even more beautiful. They weren't dulled by boredom, but instead, they sparkled with curiosity and interest. Eren cleared his throat and spoke first, uncomfortable in the silence.

"You didn't seem to be having a good time out there..." he said quietly. Levi's gaze shifted to the floor and his mouth upturned into a half-smile.

"Guessed that much just by looking, aye?" he replied. Eren nodded, his ears reddening slightly.

"It wasn't difficult. You looked positively bored out of your mind with that girl. My guess is you... don't really want to be with her?" Eren asked carefully, and the boy looked up, still smiling.

"No. I don't. She isn't right for me, but my parents insist that I marry her... It's completely unfair..." he mumbled, and Eren wanted to ask who his parents were, but the boy asked him something first.

"Why were you watching me dance, anyway?" Eren felt his cheeks redden and he chuckled nervously.

"I was just passing by and wanted to see who was out there. That's all." Levi raised an eyebrow at this, not convinced that this boy wasn't checking him out.

"Okay..." Levi said, smiling wider as the boy's blush spread across his face. He was absolutely adorable... He wondered where this boy came from, but didn't feel inclined to ask him at the moment. He could always ask someone later, because for now, he had other business to attend to.

"This girl you were dancing with..." the boy began before Levi could talk. Levi raised an eyebrow and locked eyes with him, trying to ignore the fluttering in his ribcage.

"What about her?" "Why do you not really want to be with her?" he asked, and Levi sighed.

"I don't know... She just doesn't seem my type and my parents making me marry her doesn't exactly help... You see, I don't like being told to do things. Makes me want to do the opposite," Levi explained, and the boy smiled.

"I can relate to that..." Eren said quietly, his parents appearing in his mind. Always telling Eren that he should hate the Ackermans had actually made him take a liking to them.

"What type are you looking for, if not hers?" Eren asked, and the boy's eyes flashed with something too quick to identify.

"I'm not really sure..." Levi admitted, not willing to elaborate. I'm not even sure if my type applies to the opposite gender... he thought to himself in a slow realization, blushing.

"Well, I'm sure you'll find out soon," Eren replied encouragingly, a microscopic glimmer of hope shining in him. The boy nodded, dropping his gaze to the floor in an obvious gesture of awkwardness. Eren pressed his palm into the back of his neck firmly, a nervous habit he had acquired recently.

The silence was deafening between the two before Levi spoke again, his voice quiet. "I'm not sure why I... feel the way I do... with you..." The other boy's eyebrows raised as he stared at Levi.

"Oh? What way is that?" he asked curiously, and Levi gave him a smirk, stepping closer to him. "I don't know, but something is telling me to do this." Levi placed his hands on the other boy's waist, stared deeply into his eyes, and leaned in, brushing his lips against the other's.

Eren's face exploded with red as the boy kissed him, feeling his hands firm on his waist. Eren's hand dropped from his neck and hung limply at his side as he moved his lips against the other boy's. The noise of the crowd outside melted into nothing less than a dull muffle in his ears, the curtain blurring into a mass of color behind him.

Levi felt his heart racing out of control as he kissed the other boy sweetly, a new confidence overwhelming him. He never felt this way with his betrothed, not ever. She was nothing compared to this sweet, caring, oceanic-eyed boy with a knack for disobeying the rules just like him.

Levi had felt oddly drawn to him from the moment he laid eyes on him. Yet, he didn't even know his name...

Eren kissed the boy harder, his hand sliding into his hair as he gripped it roughly. His eyes closed slowly as he broke away for a moment, breathing hard. They touched foreheads for a moment, catching their breath as they both realized what they had been missing from their life. Each other.

There was a reason Eren had had trouble with women, and this was why. They weren't right for him. This sassy, grey-eyed boy was.

Levi now understood why he had no interest in his would-be-wife. He had discovered something far better in this sweet boy he didn't even know the name of. Speaking of which...

"I don't even know your name..." Eren whispered roughly, and the other boy chuckled.

"Levi," the boy replied before leaning back in to lock lips with Eren. Levi... That sounds familiar... Eren couldn't quite connect the pieces, nor was he in any position to ask. His lips were a tad occupied.

Levi broke away again and smiled that half-smile that had subconsciously won Eren's heart the moment he laid eyes on it.

"I s'pose I should ask the same of you, aye?" he whispered.

"I s'pose..." Eren answered sweetly, but before he could answer, a call rang out in the other room.

"Levi!"

Levi started and glanced back at the curtain, scowling. "That's my mom..." he growled, letting go of Eren and sticking his head out of the curtain. Eren held back, not wanting to be seen with him for the moment. Levi stuck his head back inside and looked at Eren sadly.

"I have to go. My mom is frantic." He walked over and kissed Eren one last time before pulling away reluctantly. "I hope you won't forget me..."

Eren stared after him and whispered, "I won't, Levi..." Levi pushed open the curtain and gave one glance back before walking out, leaving Eren standing alone, blushing bright red.

Now that he was unoccupied, he wracked his brain, trying to think of where he had heard the name Levi before. It slowly dawned on him, and he gasped. He had been kissing the son of the Ackerman family, his family's worst enemy.

Levi wandered through the crowd of guests in search of his mother. He eventually found her near the opposite side of the room, and she breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of him.

"There you are. Your betrothed was searching for you. She is over there somewhere. Go." Levi sighed and began walking back, but stopped as he caught sight of the boy slipping back into the crowd. Levi grabbed a nearby servant, desperate for answers.

"Who is that?" he asked, pointing at him. The servant stared at the boy, trying to figure out who he was, and gasped quietly.

"Why sir, that's... That's the Jaeger family's youngest, Eren. What is he doing here?"

Levi gave no answer, but muttered a thanks as he walked away, his thoughts running through his head a thousand times a second. He had been kissing his worst enemy... He had fallen in love with his worst enemy.
