Danger

Artemis was shaken awake by her mother, the sounds of a fight weren't to far off. "Atremis, Artemis, you need to run., she had never seen her mother scared and felt frozen, as if nothing she said made sense, her mother shook her again, "Now!" she shouted, Artemis heard wood break, probably the door to enter the apartment. She ran from her room into the living room, she saw people she didn't recognize, fighting Jack, her mother grabbed a knife and joined the fight. Artemis jumped from the window, and hit the ground running, adrenaline kept her running without looking back. Artemis kept running, straight into someone wearing a yellow hoodie, knocking them down and causing her to land with a crack on the ground, her heart was beating so fast she felt it would burst, her lungs burned, she felt she would pass out. Her mind raced with questions, what had happened, who had she run into, where was her mother, and others, including why was there smoke. Her mind started to slow down, everything seemed far away, she'd never see Lee again, yellow was a nice color... Wait, she'd never see Lee again! She could imagine the sorrow in the woman's eyes when she never returned, just like Lee's own child. Artemis wondered if this is how they'd felt, when they'd been sent off to fight the monsters and never returned, when they died had they felt like this? Their mind going a million miles a second but everything else was almost frozen. No, Artemis could think these thoughts, 'Huntress, there's danger nearby. Escape, rovndaviue with your family.' she could hear Lee's gruff voice bark, ordering her to get up, to run or fight, or anything. 'Don't let me down solider, your a fighter, don't leave me too.', Artemis shakily got up, 'Don't leave your mother, don't give her that pain.', Artemis touched the back of her head, when she brought it in front of her imaginary Lee's voice went away, her hand had blood on it. She'd fallen on a bottle or some other sharp piece of trash, and now her head was bleeding. 'Run! There's DANGER!' Lee's voice screamed almost deafening her, Artemis went off running, the word danger echoing in her head. She climbed up a tree kicking a window until it broke, jumping through. 'Your safe for now solider, good work.', Artemis felt empty, scared and cold. Artemis sat there until she passed out, unaware that danger was still there, watching her.
