"Uhhhhh No" She looked out the window, returning my phone to me. I snatched it from her hands, eyeing her the whole time, "Oh really?"
"She's lying" I glanced back at him to offer an 'You don't say' look before returning my gaze to Tina. She slowly turned back around to look at me and I raised my eyebrows, waiting for an explanation. She met my eyes with a certain look.
Oh.
"So you're sure you don't know it?"
"Positive" She smiled when she knew that I understood. The look she gave me told me she couldn't say it with Xander here. I looked down at my phone and began replying;
I can't forgive you if I don't know who you are.
I clicked send before I felt someone right behind me, literally shadowing me. "Personal space" I hissed but Xander didn't move.
"I told you not to reply" He said before grabbing my phone.
"Xander! Give it back" I snapped but he held it above his head where I couldn't reach it. Oh this was just perfect. I jumped several times before giving up, my arm growing tired from reaching up so much.
"She'll give you a bj if you return it"
It took me a second before understanding what she said when a smirk appeared on Xander's face. "Millie has to say it"
"Give me it right now"
"Whoa calm down girl, we're in public"
"What?" My brow furrowed, "oh.... no! I meant my goddamn phone!" We all paused when a message came in and Xander quickly went to look at it but I quickly dived at him and managed to grab my phone.
I read the one word and sighed, "Nick".
"Nick?" Tina sounded confused. Hadn't she already known it was him? I was surprised when Xander said nothing, I had expected him to get annoyed or something. I raised my eyes to look at him but he pulled out his phone before dialing a number and bringing the phone to his ear.
Both Tina and I waited in silence, to see who he was calling. He let out a sigh when there was no answer before shoving the phone back into his pocket. I arched my right eyebrow in question and he just gave me a shrug.
"Did you call Nick?" I folded my arms, "You know he's not going to want to talk to you".
"Why would I call him?" His voice rang with disgust, "I was ringing Henry to ask about Evangeline and if he's hired her yet"
"Why?"
He shot me a strange look, "Why what?"
"Nothing" I pushed the unusual feeling in my gut away before strolling over to Tina. She watched me for a minute before ripping back the covers revealing her stump where her leg once was.
She grinned when I pulled a face. Stuff like this made me weak.
"Kiss it! Kiss it and make it feel better!" She wiggled the stump. How could one be so cheerful, she really was amazing.
"You guys need to go soon" She said after pulling the covers back over her and laying her head back with a sigh. Both my eyebrows raised , "Why?"
"My mom's coming to visit"
Her mom? I hadn't seen or heard about her in ages, I thought she lived far from here. Tina's mom, although lovely, was slightly crazy. Just a bit and once you got into a conversation with her you would be there for years.
"It's fine, it'll be nice to see her" I tried to laugh but it came more as a worried splutter. She grinned at my reaction before waving her hand.
"It's fine Milan, go. I'd like alone time with her anyway, it's been a while since she's visited me or I've visited her" She winked, "I'm sacrificing myself for you".
"My hero" I rolled my eyes, "When's she com-"
"WHERE'S MY BABY? WHERE'S MY TINY TINA?! BRING ME TO HER" My eyes widened at the sound of her voice. To late. Before I knew what was happening a tight grip on my arm dragged me from the room and the opposite way of the voice.
I looked back and saw Tina wave 'bye' to me.
"Xander!" I hissed while he just dragged me faster in a different direction than her mom, "I didn't get to say goodbye" He slowed down to a normal walk after a few seconds then turned back to me.
"Just give her two good-byes next time" He shrugged. I couldn't help but shoot him a death glare. He could be so nice one minute then such an áss the next minute. My eyes caught someone talking at one of the desks. Gerard...
"Look" I nodded toward his direction and Xander turned around then spotted him. We both walked over silently only causing Ger to jump when we gave him a surprise 'hello'.
"Why so jumpy?" Xander grinned before shoving his hands in his pockets. Ger eyed him for a minute before looking away nervously and that's when I knew something was up. He wasn't being loud or didn't even give a proper greeting but before I could say anything about it Xander beat me to the punch.
"You okay, dude?" The teasing in Xanders voice slowly disappeared. Ger gnawed on his lip before nodding his head quickly, "Uh yeah yeah, sorry... I just... sorry.. don't know what got into me" He looked around before walking passed us, "I got to go"
"Wait" Xander followed him, gripping his shoulder tightly and spinning him around, "Seriously what's up? IS the work-"
"It's nothing to do with the work I'm doing" Gerard snapped but when he realized how much hostility was in his voice, he calmed down and only shook his head.
"Sorry, I'm just kind of stressed."
"About?" I pushed him on and I felt Xander probably shoot me a look that told me not to be so rude and forward but to be honest I didn't care right now. If I found out the problem, I could help so technically I was being nice, not rude.
"Just stuff" Ger sighed, "Now are you going to keep questioning me or can I go?"
Xander sighed but just nodded his head. "Later" Gerard waved lightly before literally speed-walking off. "What's up with him?" I pursed my lips but Xander just shrugged.
"We should go" He said walking off and I quickly followed. It was a silent walk through the hospital until we reached outside and I was guessing he was thinking what was up with his friend. I'd be worried if it was Tina, but I didn't really care for Gerard.
Not that I'm an áss or anything, he was just a bigger áss so.... all's fair right? "Oh" Xander pulled me from my thoughts, "Oh?" I questioned his word.
I followed his view until my eyes settled on an excited Evangeline running toward us. I raised my eyebrows, she didn't look like she was going to stop. She continued running before diving into Xander and pulling him into a hug.
Oh.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" She squealed before pulling back then looking to me, "And thank you!!" She grabbed me into a tight hug making me lose my breath for a couple of sounds.
Geez talk about small but mighty.
"You alright there?" Xander chuckled and she nodded her head ferociously. "I don't belong to that... donkey anymore!" She grinned widely. I'm guessing she said donkey, meaning he was an áss.
"I'm glad" I gave her a small smile which she returned to me. After a second her eyes flicked to Xanders.
"T-thank you for the other night" All of a sudden she seemed like the shy schoolgirl from the other night. Is this what girls get like when they're around there 'crush'. It was kind of dumb in my opinion.
"The other night?" He tilted his head.
"From uhm... saving me fro-"
"Oh" Xander nodded his head, "Not a problem" He glanced at me for a millisecond before looking back to Evangeline, "I wasn't going to leave such a beautiful damsel in distress" He winked and my heart actually hurt for a minute, a sick feeling appearing in my stomach.
But just as fast as it came, it was gone straight away.
Evangeline giggled, biting her lip nervously. I'm sorry am I being a cóckblock or something? I wanted to say that but of course I also wanted to keep my dignity so I kept my mouth shut.
"I uhm.. have to get going.. I hope to see you soon" The message was directed at Xander before she quickly looked to me. Had she literally forgot I was there? Okay. OK. "You too Milania! I can't tell you how much you mean to me!" She smiled and I couldn't help but smile back.
Something about her was so adorable.. how could you be annoyed with someone like that?
She gave us one last goodbye before quickly running off, "We're meeting everyone today" Xander said before looking to me.
"Do you like her?" I blurted out and immediately regretted it. Why? Whyyyyyyyyyyy? Okay you can save this, "Because... since she likes you, I don't want her to get hurt if you don't" I rambled on.
Xander shrugged, "Does it matter to you though?"
This bítch.
"Uh yeah. I'm your maid, if you're gonna go out with her and I've to serve her too then you're paying me double" I was saving this like a pro.
Silence.
"You didn't answer the question" I hurried after him when he began walking to the car.
"Why do you want to know?"
"I just told you. If you don't, don't flirt with her or you'll hurt her"
He eyed me from the side, "Is that the real reason you don't want me to flirt with her?" When he asked that I went silent for a moment.
"O-of course it is! Such an idiot" I quickly said, rolling my eyes.
"You positive you're not lying?" He was enjoying this.
"So you're not going to answer the question then" I said it more as a fact when we finally reached the car. I pulled the door open and got inside once he unlocked it. The scent of black ice that was always in the car made it heavenly.
Once he was in he sat still, "Do you want me to answer it?"
"Well why else would I ask?" I scowled, shooting him a glare but pausing when my eyes met his. My breath hitched as a cute smirk crept onto his lips before leaning over and whispering in my ear "I already have my eyes on someone else"
