It had been a long week with all of the cases and paper work. JJ had been called from the Seattle police department when middle-aged women would disappear without any trace. They showed up in front of the station almost 3 days later with burns and saw marks everywhere on their body. The city was beginning to freak out which is why they called us in. I was quite new to the team but the whole hype of it was already gone. I had settled in and the team was use to my presence in cases now, like they should be because I had been in the team for almost 8 months now.
I wasn't quite sure what my place on the team was. I was smart, quick and tough although I couldn't hurt a fly. Hotch normally has me running through houses to check for the lurking killers but I always had someone next to me, normally himself of Derek. I may not have the heart to hurt a fly but if it ever comes down to it, I can have a really mean punch.
We had flown out to Seattle and started off trying to find similarities between each of the 5 victims. Did they attend the same school? Have they ever joined a sport? What gym did they go to? Anything to help link the girls together. With Garcia's help, we had managed to find a couple of minor things like how they had all been in the same online chat room once. I was still something that we could work from so it went up on the board. All victims had brown hair and had once owned a Mazda car. The last similarity we could find was that they were all born in LA although it was in completely different areas.
Unfortunately, no one ever noticed that I could fit in all of those categories.

A hand being placed on my back woke me from my light nap and I looked up to see Hotch talking to me and the sleepy blonde next to me. "Burkes, I've reserved a couple of rooms at the hotel down the road. You and JJ have the first shift and come back down here at 2." JJ and I pack up our stuff and head out the door, leaving the team in the temporary conference room for now. Silence was shared between JJ and me but I knew it was just because we were too tired to talk. We were good friends when we were awake, I promise.
The hotel wasn't fancy but it wasn't old and run down either. Just a normal hotel you would get for a couple of nights only. I walk up to the counter and keys were instantly pushed towards me without the keeper even looking up.
"Uh? Is this for Aaron Hotchner?" The man slightly jumps but then pulls the keys back.
"Oh I'm Sorry Miss, wrong person." He smiles nervously and I quickly study him. Hunched shoulders, lines around his mouth meaning that there was probably a grimace planted on there most of the time, and he fumbled with the other keys as he looked for the right one. He was nervous and I could tell. He gets the right keys and passes it over to me, sitting back down and typing quickly on his computer. I hesitate before walking back to JJ and leading her towards the single room we were given. Inside there were 2 double beds, a bathroom and a small seating area with a TV. A small kitchen was pushed to the side along with a bar fridge but I didn't care for it. I changed into my Pyjamas. Not caring that JJ was in the room with me too and got into the bed, setting an alarm for 2 hours. I fell asleep watching the window, not noticing that in the very corner there was a small blinking green light.
The next time I opened my eyes was because of the alarm going off. Had it been 2 hours already? It must have been because I could see JJ already up and brushing through her hair to get any tangles out.
"I feel like I'm being cheated on with time. That was definitely not enough sleep." I grouch, pushing off the covers and walking into the bathroom, hearing JJ laugh. I jump in and out of the shower, and within 5 minutes I'm ready to get back to the station. Together JJ and I walk down the street where the corner stands to walk towards the station.
"I hope there is more evidence on the board." I murmur quietly, taking note of all the houses we're around. Wouldn't want to piss off the sleeping neighbourhood.
"They have Reid there. I'm sure they could of found some more- oh no." She starts running off ahead and I see it- the large black mound sitting on the steps of the building. Another body.
I run over and check the body to see if it was alive or still warm. JJ runs in and I press my fingers to the woman's neck, not feeling any beats. The body was warm, as if it was just dropped by and that's why I was surprised when no one noticed that it had been dropped off. Doesn't the police station have cameras out the front? Footsteps scurry down the entrance and I'm already kneeling down next to the body with a frown.
"The body is still warm, probably hasn't been here 20 minutes." I say aloud, letting the Seattle PD get through. A yell comes from the crowd and my heart constricts with pain for the man.
"SYLVIA?!" An older man with greying brown hair tries to push through, his green eyes glistening with pain and unshed tears. "Oh God, not my Sylvia! LET ME THROUGH!" No one lets him through and I have to walk away, not letting my mind let in a flashback from that day years ago. I could sympathise with him to a point but our situations were very different. I walk into the room and take a deep breath. I don't think I could handle it, but I had too.
~*~
Surprisingly the body had left a clue. A very shaky signature was carved into the skin along with material from a red shirt. We had sat down in the conference room the next day, discussing the finds from the night. After we found the body, no one had a break leaving everyone dissatisfied, edgy and grumpy to the point where we almost couldn't handle each other.
"Do we have enough information to come up with a profile for the killer?" Morgan asks the group, drinking coffee that was provided for us every hour and a half. I was leaned onto him with my eyes closed peacefully. We weren't in a relationship but everyone on the team knew there was something there. He and I knew it too but I guess we were both too chicken to start something. Yes, Derek Morgan being scared of asking little ol' me out.
"Well I guess we could try and make one. If we get any other information we can change the profile to fit it." Rossi offers. Garcia is brought up on the laptop.
"Garcia I need you to write this down and you can search through the database." She agrees so we all pile on the information we've found.
"Well, it would have to be a 30-35 year old Male who is physically fit enough to create the type of damage found on the women." Hotch says.
"The signature that was left on the body was shaky but not hesitant. He might have some kind of illness that causes that or even medication with shakiness as a side-effect." I add in.
"They would have to live here in Seattle in order to take the bodied and bring them back within 3 days."
"He has some kind of access to birth records or he was born in LA." Reid adds.
"They're married and at one point they all had children." We all go quiet and look over to JJ. She looks up and starts pointing at each hand. "There are tans on their ring fingers showing that there must've been wedding rings. Some of the women have stretch marks on their stomachs and some have fading pen and marker marks on their hands. They all have children."
"Alright add that to the list Garcia." She makes a sound and quickly types on her laptop.
"I've found 6 men. 1 is in jail and the rest are still living in Seattle." The list comes up and as I go through then, I point at the 3rd male.
"Wait, who's the 3rd one Garcia?" I ask.
"That my dear happens to be Michael Russets the one in Jail." I shake my head and my eyebrows crinkle up.
"No he's not..." I say carefully. Everyone looks at me and goes quiet; the departments head kind of chuckles.
"Yeah he is. We put him away almost 5 weeks ago." I shake my head once more.
"Well your jail needs to get better head of security because he was managing the front desk of the hotel last night." I quickly walk out and start running out on route to the hotel from last night. I hear people running behind me but I don't slow down. I grab my gun from my side holster and burst into the hotel, scaring the guy from last night that was at the desk. He freaks out and pulls a gun from the desk, shooting it at me. He misses and Morgan runs in, holding his gun up too.
"Michael Russets. Put the gun down right now. You are under arrest." He doesn't back down, aiming his gun at me.
"No. We need to get rid of them."
"We?" I ask him, not realising that there was a second unsub.
"Yes us. He told me that the FBI wouldn't get involved. Just his team." His eyes looked insane. You could smell the crazy on him. "That's why I killed his wife!" He spat, his hands growing shaky with every minute that passed. We couldn't arrest him because as soon as we go close enough, he would shoot me. I could see out of the corner of my eye, people moving towards the guy from last night, putting handcuffs of his wrists. My team was watching from outside.
"That's why the MO changed, wasn't it? He broke the rules and you had to punish the guy?" Michael looked conflicted and his body started to shake more and more. His finger moved quickly but Morgan moved quicker. He shot the gun just as Morgan was pulling him down. I felt pain in my wrist and I dropped my gun, cradling it to m chest. I've been shot before but that doesn't mean I can get used to it. Morgan handcuffed Michael and the rest of the team came in, Rossi coming over to me and moving me off towards a car.
"You alright Lil?" I hear Morgan ask, eyes on my wrist. I give him a painful nod as I get into the car with Rossi driving, probably going to take me to a hospital.
"How's that wrist?" Rossi gives me a dark blue towel as he starts the car; I grab it and press it towards the bleeding wound.
"Well, it's definitely hurt." I joke, wincing at the throbbing and sharp pains shooting through it. "I don't think the bullet went straight through it." He grimaces, driving faster. Rossi had been my father figure the time I've been on the team. I went to him with my problems and he came to me with his. The days when I didn't want to be alone were spent in his house where he would let me cry on his shoulder. He knew about that dreadful day that happened years ago. Hotch knew of it but that's because he had to read my file. The hospital was quite peaceful when we entered but everything went crazy when I rushed in. The amount of blood on the towel may have sent the wrong message to the doctors.
"Bullet wound. I don't think there's an exit wound though." I'm dragged into a hospital room where they had to check my wrist out.
"It's still in there Miss Burkes, we'll have to move you into the OR so we can get it out. Local anaesthetic will be enough for you, won't it?" I nod my head. They drag the bed into a medical room where they placed my wrist on a small table next to me. The anaesthetic was enough and I couldn't feel a thing. It only took about 10 minutes to get the bullet out and to fix me back up. I only needed a bandage as the bullet didn't damage any of the bones. Soon enough, I was walking out with medication and Rossi fussing over me. We drove back to the police station where I was then fussed over by everyone else. I was older than Reid but for some reason both him and me was treated as the kids of the group.

As we landed back in Virginia, I had people moving around me carrying my stuff and making sure I didn't have anything to carry.
"I'm fine guys. " I laugh. "Seriously. It doesn't even hurt."
"That's because you have pain medication in your body which blocks the pain receptors in your body, stopping them from going to your brain-"
"Reid. You're not helping me here man." We all laugh before walking into the Chinese restaurant where we would eat before going home. We sit down and order the food that we wanted.
"How did you even notice the guy, I didn't?" JJ asks me, referring to Michael.
"He gave me keys without even looking. He mistook me for someone and then he was acting really nervous and stressed out. I dunno' it just stayed in my mind. It was like he was guilty because he kept putting his head down after that." Morgan pats my back and says;
"Lesson learned; Always stay in profiler mode" Another round of laughs erupts and the waiter comes over with our food. The meal was happy and care-free, everyone talking and sharing jokes while asking me if my hand was alright. It should be healed in about a month or 2 but I can still work with it. When the fortune cookies arrived, I rolled my eyes. These things were filled with random quotes that no one really understands. We all started reading ours to the rest of the group.
"Hidden in a valley beside an open stream- This will be the type of place where you will find your dream." Hotch reads from his. As I said before, they are very confusing.
"You will marry your lover." Reid says out loud, slightly blushing as our table erupts with laughter at the poor boy. As I open mine, I stare at it with a confused expression.
"Well this is very...different." Emily looks over my shoulder and we both look at each other with unreadable expressions.
"What does it say?" JJ asks, all of them interested. I open up the paper completely and read it out with an unamused voice.
"Your life is in danger. Say nothing to anyone. You must leave the city immediately and never return again. Repeat: Say nothing." I smirk. "Well, I already broke one of the rules. Have you guys ever gotten one like this?" They all shake their heads and smile."
"Probably just the factory having fun with the cookies as always." Rossi tells me.

Morgan gave me a ride home. In the car there was conversation but my hand was starting to throb so I was kind of spaced out.
"You know if you need me, I'm one call away" He stops the car and looks at me worried.
"I know Derek. Thank you." He smiles before placing a kiss on my knuckles and unlocking the car doors. I walked through the empty building and passed the elevator. I lived on the 2nd floor so I never bothered to take the elevator unless I had to carry something up there. As I unlocked the door and put all my stuff down I knew something was wrong. I looked around but I couldn't see anything out of place or anything added. I grabbed my gun and started to walk around my apartment. I went into the bathroom first and checked in the shower (stereotypical, but safety first kids). I moved through my apartment room by room until I had made sure that nothing was out of place. I sat down on my couch with a loud sigh before pressing a button on my phone so I could hear the 3 voicemails I have received.
"Voicemail received on the 25th of June 2015 at 4:06 pm" - "Hey Honey, just calling you to say that me and your father might be coming up to see you. We just want to make sure you're alright with that before we come up. We love you, stay safe baby." Mum's voice filled the apartment and I smile. She knows that it's always fine but she always rings.
"Voicemail received on the 26th of June 2015 at 11:39 am" - "Hey Lilly! Guess What! I know you're on a case right now and that's why I'm leaving you this voicemail to come home to. Adam and I are getting married! Call me when you get this because we are in desperate need of details! Love you!" I squeal, knowing that my best friend was now getting married! I was going to call her but then the 3rd voicemail started up.
"Voicemail received 1 hour ago" - "You broke the rules and now you're going to have to live through the consequences." The gruff voice sends chills down my back and I jump up. I walk calmly over to the kitchen and grab onto my phone but as my thumb hovered over Derek's name, a click sounded from the side of me. I turn slightly to see down the barrel of a gun aiming right between my eyes.
"I told you not to tell."_____________________________________________________________
So the prompt for this was: At a Chinese Restaraunt your main character recieves a fortune cookie that says; 'Your life is in danger. Say nothing to anyone. You must leave the city immediately and never return again. Repeat: Say nothing'
Hopefully I used it in a way that related to the story in a way.
Did anyone get the Avengers reference I put in there? Cause I put one! XD
