Chapter 7
I woke up to the annoying sound of eagles flying overhead of my apartment. “God damn birds…” I muttered under my breath as I sat up. I looked next to me and saw that it was 12:56 on the alarm clock. Gaara was sleeping soundly next to me. (I know he can’t actually sleep, but in this story he can) I smiled and watched him slowly inhale and exhale. I poked his cheek and giggled lightly. ‘Squishy, squishy…’ I thought while continuing to lightly poke him.
His eyes shot open and he stared at me as I laughed nervously. “What are you doing?” He asked. “You we sleeping so peacefully and your cheek looked really squishy and I felt the urge to poke it.” I said nervously. “Um…okay?” He said.
“Well I’m going to take a shower. I’ll be back out in a few minutes.” I said grabbing a towel and clothes to change into. I stepped inside the bathroom and locked the door. I turned on the water to a warm setting, took off my pajamas and got in.

I stepped outside and saw that Gaara was changed and holding my violin. “I see you found my second favorite pastime.” I said smiling.
He looked up at me and with curious eyes and then turned his attention back to the violin.
“Do we have any missions today?” I asked him. He shook his head. “I don’t know if ‘train on your own time’ qualifies as a mission.” He said.
“Then do you want to learn how to play the violin?” I asked him. He nodded. I walked to my closet and pulled out the first violin I ever bought. I tuned both of the violins and gave Gaara the old one since it had “rainbow skittle stripes” as my old teacher used to call them.
“Okay, first things first, you need to know the names of the strings. Hold the violin in front of you like this.” I said holding it so that I can see the strings.
He held it like I did. “The one on your left is ‘G’, the one next to it is ‘D’, the one next to that one is ‘A’ and the last one on the right is ‘E’.” I said pointing them out to him. He nodded and repeated.
“Now I want you to hold it like you would a guitar.” I said holding it like a guitar. He copied what I did. “This is called “the guitar position”. This is for plucking the violin so we can hear what the notes sound like before bowing them.” I said.
(I was taught this when I was learning how to play the violin. I love my teacher, he’s so awesome!!!)
He nodded and began plucking the strings lightly. “G, D, A, E…G, D, A, E…” He repeated while plucking them. Now put it on your left shoulder like so.” I said demonstrating. He copied what I did.
“Now when you hold the violin, your left hand is holding the neck. Your thumb is bent and the palm of your hand is curved so it’s like you’re holding a golf ball in your hand.” I said showing him how it’s supposed to look like. He held it like that and started pressing his fingers on the fret board. “Hold your horses! We’ll get to that in a bit!” I said. He stopped and looked at me for further instruction.
