This morning I woke up with a sore body and a major headache. This is probably what hangovers felt like. Sadly, for me, I've never had a hangover no matter how much I drank.
I slowly started to sit up, wincing at the pain the movement caused. I stopped moving altogether as a warm hand gently pushes me back down on the bed.
I blink slowly.
Half lidded eyes looked up in curiosity, breathing in a painful breath as my body sets afire again. Deepest green eyes met the darkest pools of eyes I've ever seen. The man was huge with ripped muscles that strained against his shirt, a strong jaw, full lips, tanned skin, white and perfect teeth, midnight black hair, and so much more . . . the hottest, sexiest, most delicious thing in this world.
I breathe him in, shivering in pleasure as his masculine scent invaded my senses. Once again I try to get up. The man shakes his head and kept his hand on my shoulder. Wherever we touched my skin blazed like a white hot iron was being pressed against my skin. I took my lip between my teeth to keep from moaning.
Those dark pools looked at the motion and met my eyes. Again I was mesmerized by his eyes. His face, on the other hand, had a hard look to it. His face was blank, showing not one bit of emotion on that sexy face.
My attention went to the door as one of the nurses came in. Alyssa, I think her name was.
This Alyssa girl gave me a shot in the arm as anger flared through me at the thought of another she wolf near my mate.
I froze as I smell her. Oh, she and Lyla were mates. No wonder they're always together.
She left.
The haze fades, leaving me with the man who's been here the whole time while I was asleep. This man was my mate.
I blacked out. Don't know why, but I just did. I know I wasn't freaked out, so that couldn't be it. It was probably whatever the hell the nurse gave me.
The next time I awaken I blink in total confusion, memories coming back. I sit up with a start and ignored the soreness. No one was in the room, thank the ancestors. I would've torn them apart. Getting up, I put on some blue shorts and a black muscle shirt. Next I try to open the metal door but it didn't budge.
I frown.
I bang on door until Beta Ryan opens it a little. "Can you move, please?" I said.
"I can't," he said, voice tense. Of course he would order the Beta to not let me out.
I took a deep breath while at the same time gathering a little bit of my Alpha power. Without saying a word I pushed that power on the Beta, and, like a robot, he moved.
"I'm sorry," I said as I passed him and marched upstairs to the third floor, trying to avoid everyone the best I could in my Heat.
But as more and more wolves appeared, it didn't work. To keep them away I used my power.
Upon reaching the right door I swung it open, ready to give him an earful. The words died on my lips as everything in my body froze. My body turned cold after so long of being hot.
I don't move an inch as some woman continues to moan. I don't even look to see why she's moaning, either. All I see is my mate hovering above her. The man looks behind him at me, eyes showing some kind of emotion.
I calmly walk out of the room while closing the door behind me. Out of the house I went and into the forest I entered. Not even a minute later I smelt his strong scent not far behind me.
My legs continued to take me wherever they felt like until I came to a complete stop. He was right behind me, I could tell.
I didn't give him a chance to say anything. "It's okay," I said automatically, raising my head to stare at the dark trees covering the sky from my view. "You never wanted me. Now I know for sure that you just used me to take physical form, and now I'm going back to my family."
