Avalon's P.O.V

"Avalon, honey, you have to get out of the house."

"Fuck off. No I don't," I huffed at my best friend as I shoved another spoonful of cookie dough ice cream in my mouth. Other than going to school, I'd been sitting in the same spot since exactly a week ago. That was when I broke up with Luke and to top it all off, Mother Nature decided to make her monthly visit the day after that happened, so I was feeling extra emotional.

I stared intently at the television, where 10 Things I Hate About You was playing. It probably wasn't the greatest movie choice, but I really didn't care at this point. My heart was already in two, so why not crush it a little more?

"I get you're still salty and stuff, but you could tone it down you know," Scarlett advised. I shot her daggers as I put more ice cream in my mouth and she shot her hands up in defense. "C'mon, it's been a week."

"If Ashton broke up with you you'd be heartbroken, so shut up," I shot back.

Yeah, those two were finally dating and apparently they were "madly in love." It was all bullshit anyway. High school love didn't exist, end of story.

"True, but I wouldn't be sitting here eating my weight in ice cream," Scarlett countered.

"Don't even kid yourself yes you would."

"Avalon that's not my point," she groaned. "You need to be doing something to keep him off your mind, not sitting around doing nothing."

"I'm not doing nothing. I'm finishing this tub of ice cream," I corrected in all seriousness. I didn't want to go do something; I wanted to stay home and wallow in my self pity while watching cheesy romance movies and throwing ice cream at the TV whenever I deemed necessary. That beat going out any day in my opinion.

Scarlett had different plans as she stood up and turned off the TV. I yelled in protest but she just ignored me as she walked over to where I was cuddled up in my jelly bean blanket on the couch and literally pried the tub of ice cream out of my hand. I crossed my arms in annoyance as she sat on my recliner next to the couch.

"Avalon, I understand that your heart hurts and you're upset, but what you're doing is no way to get over him. You need to go do something fun or something you love. How about we go to that diner you like?"

"I'm not hungry," I shrugged, not really lying. I did just eat a full tub of ice cream.

"The mall?"

"My legs hurt. I don't want to walk." Again, not a lie, but it was just another excuse.

"Ice skating?"

"Cause that worked out so well the last time."

"Bitch, stop being bitter and difficult. I will get you out of this house if it is the last thing I do so you better pick something to do or else," Scarlett threatened sternly. I knew I was stronger than her and I knew that she knew that, so she couldn't physically hurt me.

She did have a point though. Maybe actually doing something with my life would help me get Luke off my mind. It was the end of November, so there was literally nothing to do. Everything was basically seasonal and by seasonal I meant they were open during every season except for winter.

I practically saw the light bulb go off above my head as I stood up dramatically. Scarlett looked at me wide eyes and I grabbed a jacket.

"Let's do something rebellious," I said, taking her hand and leading her out of the front door.

"Glad to have you back," she laughed as we climbed into my mom's car and I drove off.

"Are you sure about this?" Scarlett asked skeptically as we walked into the tattoo parlor. I nodded and went up to the front desk where a short blonde lady sat.
