"When everything's wrong, you make it right."
Hospitals had never been on my list of favourite places to visit, the white walls, the silence and the smell made me feel uncomfortable.
Luke was quick to grab Liam out of the backseat as soon as we arrived, rushing towards the hospital entrance whilst I followed closely behind with Thomas.
Attention was grabbed by Luke as he walked in, doctors immediately crowding around him and my brother.
He was taken away from Luke soon enough, places onto a wheelchair as doctors pushed hm down the busy hall.
I followed behind quickly, reaching for Liam's hand as they stopped in front of any empty hospital room.
They soon transferred him out of the wheelchair and hoisted him up onto the plain white sheets on the bed, crowding around his small frame.
"Miss, what exactly happened to him?" A doctor questioned, placing a hand on the small of my back as he guided me out of the room.
"Wait, I can't leave him in there on his own, he's-" I began to protest, but the man simply smiled at me sympathetically before closing the door behind us.
"He's in good hands, I promise. They're just going to check out the injuries, you'll be allowed in there in a few." He spoke.
"Okay." I sighed, nodding towards the doctor as he spoke.
"Would you mind telling me your brothers full name? And care to explain how it happened?" The doctor questioned politely.
"It's Liam James Mathews." I spoke up, watching as the man scribbled down the new information on his clipboard.
"He fell during a football match, but I don't know how bad the damage is." I sighed.
"Thank you, Miss Mathews. Just wait here for a while, and I'll call you as soon as he's all fixed up." He smiled warmly, heading back into the room where my brother was.
"He's gonna be just fine baby, don't worry." Luke stated, placing a soft kiss against my cheek as I stared at the closed door.
"I should've been watching him." I spoke, leaning my head against Luke's shoulder as we waited.
"You couldn't have done anything Lil, accidents happen all the time. Especially when you're a kid." Thomas chuckled, making me crack a slight smile.
"Do you want a drink or something?" Luke questioned, arm wrapped around my shoulder.
"I'm alright, I'm just gonna wait here until they let us know what's wrong." I spoke, sitting down on one of the uncomfortable hospital chairs.
Luke instantly sat down next to me, grabbing ahold of my hand whilst he pulled me into his side.
Not long passed before the same doctor came out again, and I was up on my feet as soon I heard the door click.
"Well? Is he alright?" I questioned anxiously, taking a few steps forward.
"He was very lucky, actually. The good thing is there aren't any broken bones, just a sprained ankle and few stitches on the side of his leg." The doctor stated.
"Thank god." I sighed in relief, happy that it wasn't anything major.
"The stitches will only need to stay in for about two weeks, and he might have trouble walking, so I advise crutches." He added.
"Okay, thank you ever so much." I smiled slightly.
"My pleasure, do you want to go through and see him?" He questioned, gesturing towards the door.
"Please." I chuckled, opening the closed door as the doctor headed down the hall, giving us some privacy.
"Hey bud." I smiled sadly, walking into the room where Liam was laying on the bed, ankle bandaged up along with stitches.
"Hi sissy." He waved, eyes red and puffy from his tears. I walked over and sat next to him on the side of the bed, pulling him into a tight hug.
"You doing alright Li?" Thomas questioned, standing as far away from Luke as he could.
"I'm fine." He stated, staring down at his leg, looking at the stitches curiously.
"Don't touch them bud, they might get infected." Luke spoke up, crouching down next to the bed, ruffling Liam's curly hair.
"When can I play football again?" He questioned worriedly, staring at his damaged leg.
"Sorry Li, but not for a little while. But I'll tell you what, how about we call Sam to come round when we get out of here, yeah?" I questioned, trying to lighten the mood.
"Okay." He smiled.
"But what if I can't walk?" He questions again, staring at all three of us with panic in his eyes.
"It might be a bit difficult for a couple days, but you'll be good as new soon enough." Thomas stated.
"And anyway, that's what I'm here for bud." Luke chuckled, carefully picking Liam up, careful not to damage his leg.
"Yay!" Liam cheered happily, clutching onto Luke whilst I smiled, grabbing his jacket off of the chair.
"Don't go getting any ideas mister, Luke won't be carrying you around everywhere." I warned, watching as the pair chuckled.
"Cmon then, let's get you home." Luke smiled, arms wrapped securely around Liam, making sure his leg was alright.
"He seems to really like you Lil." Thomas spoke quietly as we walked behind Luke and Liam.
"Yeah..I hope so." I smiled shyly, watching as Liam rested his head comfortably against Luke's shoulder.
"He doesn't seem to like me though." He chuckled awkwardly.
"He's just a bit protective, that's all. He'll warm up to you soon enough, he hasn't got a choice, you're my best friend." I laughed quietly.
"I hope so, I don't really want it to be this awkward whenever I'm around. He's my best friend's boyfriend, we'll have to get used to each other one way or another." Thomas spoke.
"He will, don't worry. As soon as he realises he's just being a little too jealous and protective over the whole situation, he'll be fine." I stated, opening the car door.
"You alright there Li?" I questioned as Luke placed him in the back, climbing into the front seat myself, as Thomas got into the back alongside Liam.
"Yep, I can do this myself." Liam states, grabbing ahold of the seat belt whilst Luke chuckled, shutting the door.
"Right, let's head back then yeah?" Luke smiled, placing a hand on my thigh as he pulled out of the car park.
"I'll text Cal and let him know how it all went, and I'll invite them over for a while." I stated, pulling my phone out of my pocket.
"Yeah sure, as long as I get some alone time with you later on baby.." Luke trailed off, smirking as he watched me blush.
"Guys, there's a child in the back, save it for later." Thomas chuckled, covering Liam's ears whilst he giggled.
"Shut up Tom." Luke chuckled, shaking his head whilst he concentrated on the road.
"Up to nicknames already? We'll become friends in no time." Thomas chuckled, causing Luke to roll his eyes.
"Don't push your luck." Luke spoke, earning chuckles off of the rest of us as we drove back home.
