Chapter 29 - Keep My Name Out Your Mouth
Nebbie was at basketball practice doing her manager duties. She was keeping the score of the practice game they were having. Right now they were having a short break. She was putting up the balls because she had to prepare them for a new game.
"Aye Nebbie you forgot one," Trevor, a player, shouted out. Trevor was big and tall while his friend Calvin was tall and lanky. They both liked to mess with Nebbie. Trevor grabbed the ball and threw it at her. She saw the ball and caught it. The whole basketball team was being over-dramatic like she dunked the ball.
"You play too much, Trevor," Nebbie said as she continued to do her work. Then she heard a ball bounce across the gym and then she heard Trevor laugh. She just got done putting them out.
"Big ass," Nebbie murmured to herself, but Trevor heard her. Trevor got up and ran toward her.
"What you say?" Trevor asked.
"Big. Ass," Nebbie said slowly.
"Ok," Trevor said. He picked her up and put her over his shoulder like she was weightless.
"Put me down!" Nebbie yelled.
"Aye! You betta stop before her nigga and beat your ass!" Calvin shouted. He was talking about Adonis. Even the basketball players thought Nebbie and Adonis were supposed to be together. Trevor put her down.
"Yeah you right," Trevor agreed, "Don't want my ass to get whopped." Nebbie straighten her clothes. They stay playing. Not even with Adonis though Nebbie thought.

On the other hand, Adonis was at football practice. Killing it as usual. The new kids were watching him play trying to learn from him.
"Alright, team! Let's take a break," Coach Newman shouted. He went inside the building while the team stayed outside on the field drinking Gatorade. Adonis sat next to Kobe and Kyle as usual.
"So tell me why?" Kyle began.
"What is it now Kyle?" Kobe asked.
"I just going to ignore your disrespect. Anyways so I get into an argument with Leah the other day. She tells me she tired of me liking bitches' pictures. I'm all like I don't like anybody pictures. Then she gon take a water bottle and pour it all me then she threw the bottle at me. She hasn't texted nor spoke to me at all," Kyle explained. Believe it or not, Kyle did have a girlfriend. She was a pretty mixed girl, Hispanic and black, named Leah and they've been dating since the 8th grade.
"Well stop liking bitches' pictures," Adonis said.
"And stop flirting with other girls," Kobe said.
"First of all, only girl pictures I like on the daily basis is of Blac Chyna. Secondly, the only girl I flirt with Kobe is your momma," Kyle said.
"Shut up...and she probably listens to her best friend, Katrina. You know she doesn't like you," Kobe said. Kyle sighed.
"I just don't want to lose her. We've been together too long for her to worry about what other bitches think about us," Kyle said getting really sentimental. Adonis was shocked he never saw him get like that before. I guess that's what love does to you Adonis thought. Things got silent as Kyle began to think.
"Well uh... I talked to Jasmine," Kobe said. He knows damn well he didn't talk to her, but he lied so Kyle can say something back. That way Kyle will no longer be upset about his situation.
"Why you lie so much? Just talk to her. Walk right up to her and say you want to drink her bath water," Kyle said.
"Wow..." Adonis said. While they were talking, Lance was ready to start some mess. He sat on the other side of the bench with his friends. Lance was scheming on a plot to get Adonis off the team. Jealousy is not even the word to describe him. Adonis had everything he wanted a good spot on the team, the attention from people, and most importantly Nebbie. Lance wanted her back because the whole Brianna thing wasn't worth it. Believe it or not, Lance did have feelings Nebbie during their "relationship".
"Bruh... Adonis swear he a good player," Lance said to Kaleb. Lance said it loud enough for Adonis to here. Kobe and Kyle looked at Adonis and all three of them started laughing.
"But for real though Lance, keep my name out your mouth," Adonis said with laughter while looking at Lance. Adonis knew what Lance was trying to do, but he just laughed in his face to show he was unbothered. Lance got upset.
"Oh it's funny like the time I fucked the girl you wanted," Lance said. Everybody on the time except Adonis yelled out "oooh!" Adonis was pissed now. He was very sensitive when it came to Nebbie and Lance knew this.
"You wanna talk shit huh?" Adonis asked angrily.
"Don't get mad now because every time you with her just now it was mine first," Lance said. Adonis just nodded his head like he was cool with what he said. But after 20 seconds of counting down from 50. He got angry and ran toward him. but Kobe saw this and held him back.
"Adonis chill! You can get kicked off the team," Kobe told Adonis.
"Nah Nigga! I'll beat his ass again. What's good Lance? Talking all the shit bet you won't say nothing when I knock yo' ass out. Bitch!" Adonis yelled at him.
"Come on let's take him inside," Kyle said. Adonis was pissed off and his friends had to calm him down, but they both know it wasn't going to be easy.

Basketball practice was over and Nebbie was on her way to Mrs. Peterson to grab her things since she left her stuff in there.
"How was your day Mrs. Peterson?" Nebbie asked.
"Same ol' same ol' nothing new," She answered.
"Me too...and that's great for me," Nebbie said.
Adonis came into the classroom still angry about what happened with Lance. He also left his stuff in her room. Nebbie saw his anger and became concerned.
"What's wrong?" Nebbie asked.
"People want to talk shit but don't want to say it to my face," Adonis said.
"Who?" Nebbie asked.
"Who else?" Adonis said. Nebbie knew it was about Lance.
"What he say? What did you say?" Nebbie asked.
"He started off talking about me then he some things about you and I was about to fight him, but Kobe held me back," Adonis said.
"How did my name get up in it?" Nebbie asked getting mad.
"Why you sound mad at me? I ain't say nothing about you," Adonis asked.
"It doesn't matter why am I always being brought up in these situations," Nebbie said.
"He just want to push my buttons I was trying to defend you," Adonis said.
"You don't have to defend all the damn time," Nebbie said.
"You are not making sense why you yelling at me like I said some foul stuff about you," Adonis said.
"Because you always getting mad over what he said about me when you should be more focused on yourself and staying on the team," Nebbie said.
"I care about you! Can't you tell and I can't let him do you like that!"
"I don't give a fuck! Just leave me alone and keep my name out of it!" Nebbie was mad that Adonis let everything get to him. She doesn't want him to constantly defend she's her own person. Nebbie grabbed and her stuff and left in a fury.
"What the fu-? Did you see that?" Adonis asked Mrs. Peterson.
"Yeah I did. You're just going to have to give her some time," Mrs. Peterson said.
"'Give her sometimes' That's what everybody tells me to do but how much time does she need. I've been waiting and waiting and I get nothing in return," Adonis said.
"The longer you try the better the reward will be. Remember that?" Mrs. Peterson said. Adonis was getting tired of waiting on her but as tired as he gotten he still will wait no matter how long because no other girl in the entire world can compare to Nebbie Blair.
