A/N: The picture above is 'Maximus'. I drew him.
Another chime from the clock indicated that it was the afternoon, the same various activities still never strayed from the path he was taking. When could there be of something new of this god damn forsaken kingdom? Other than the uprising trouble of pirates, bandits, and the whatnot likes of it.
There was not much to go on about, really.
Any previous lovesick fool was no longer the same, he was now more matured. He had seen and traveled the world, but he could still no longer feel the same warmth he was with her. Many times had he reflected of his actions and wondered what was so special about her? Was it because she was a different beauty? A person of personality than appearance? Someone who could tug the strings of his heart?
Was it her witty retorts that left him sour and longing for a feeling or that there were two lonely people in this world? Could he call it fate? Perhaps not, if fate was not so ill of his upbringing— Then perhaps things would not be too difficult in life.
His brothers wouldn't have to be far from sea and beyond, his older brother would be married, and having a family— He wouldn't stuck serving a kingdom full of nobles that pretend to flatter and kiss the soles of his boots for a chance to rise up in the ranks of pretentious bastards.
Maximus heaved a quiet sigh, he does not wish to share these worries with his older brothers who are swamped with work. The last thing they need is another severe problematic issue and harsh criticism. Yet his heart would hold the resentment for fate, a bitter feeling that would continue to linger like a scratch itching, beckoning him to erase the pain.
"Something on your mind again?"
Maximus hadn't moved an inch in his spot nor flinch from the sudden surprise, he merely shrugged, and gestured for the person behind him to sit next to him. "Wondering how to solve the grain disaster from the southern village. The weather had been bad lately, the rain had washed all their efforts up, and soon— The farmers will starve."
Smoothly, he brought up another topic he had read from a report earlier, hours ago when it had arrived. "There are some emergency grains in the storage, you can send them to the least corrupted official, and have them deliver the food." The navy haired male pursed his lips, "Least corrupted official... Name three that have decent morals between right and wrong, Atlas."
Atlas opened his mouth and then closed it, furthering emphasizing the point of his younger brother's words. "See?" Maximus was amused, his brother Atlas was the one who often got along with him more so— Out of the rest of ten. It was not because he did not get along with them or vice versa— They were just too busy to stick around long enough to form a decent relationship or a bond between brothers.
He wouldn't go so far to claim that his eldest brother Caspian had no bond with him, but he could feel the distance between them was not as close as they were when they were younger. The navy haired male heaved another sigh, running his hand through his already messily made hair, losing the look of a groomed, presentable prince. "Atlas... Don't you ever think about leaving everything behind and seeing the world?"
His big brother fell silent and ruffled his hair with a melancholic smile. "All the time, but we all have responsibilities and leaving them all to Caspian would do no good. Let's try to finish most of his duties and ours, so we can take a vacation. The four of us." Atlas, the orange red haired male chuckled. His arm went over to the other side of his neck, wrapping it around, and bringing him closer to his embrace.
Atlas stared at the window across from him, his cadmium yellow eyes softened at the magnificent sight of the sunsetting below to the ground.
Freedom, huh?
Wouldn't be possible for them.
Beware of the gentleman that smiles.
Puzzling over the vague meaning of what your captain told you, but she did luckily explain to you that the word 'gentleman' didn't have to exactly mean a man, but anyone who acted with courtesy and the pretenses likes. Couldn't your captain explain what it meant, but you never bothered to question her ideals as yours more or less intertwined with each other... With a few exceptions.
Stepping on the same path that led you to the familiar forest, you blinked at how much time had changed since you were last here. The forest was as still creepy as it was when you were younger, but that wasn't the most important part. The most important part was that you were busy recalling such bitter and sweet memories of your own childhood just by standing at the entrance.
It didn't really take that long to head to your old town full of well dressed women and noblemen who minded their own business. Currently, you were sporting a pair of long trousers with boots that were suited for the seas and hiking up mountains. Your hair wasn't the crafted nicely done up-do your mother frequently distressed of you having for 'appearance' wise.
Your coat was quite long to hide the gun that sitting menacing in the inner pockets of your jacket, the long dual swords were pressed up against your shirt, but that didn't bother you as you've been long used to the icy feeling skinning your outer organs each time.
Pausing momentarily to be quite stunned, you had realized that the town was quite different than it was. There used to be dirt paved roads previously, but now the roads were done lavishly in stone or perhaps was it marble that made the roads much easier to drive on? The castle was the same old though, no surprise there, but that wasn't much of interest to go on about.
Running your fingers through your messily made hair, you've attracted quite the eyes of the surrounding noblewomen who found your stature quite alluring enough for some interest. Even if you noticed or cared, you still sent them a flirtatious smile that sent the women hiding behind their fans or whispering with gossip.
You weren't sure, but slightly leaning on the side that they believed you were a man, and not a woman in a man's clothing. Even so, that could be used to your advantage regardless. A feminine looking man who could capture the eyes and hearts of the women of this town, sometimes— being pretty had its advantages.
"Excuse me ladies," You were close enough to ask the nearest group of teenagers who were awestruck whilst staring at you. Your voice wasn't too low nor too high as they hadn't thought much about it before one of them responded. "Y-Yes?" It was a young lady with ginger hair, her face was half hidden by the custom-made fan was that was recently ordered.
Your presence awed them as you confidently made conversation with the group of girls. "Can you tell me where the [Last name] Estate is?" Your tone was much gentler and a quite of a stark contrast when you were dealing with people with your crewmates. If they had been here to see this scene, they would most definitely be dumbfounded by how gentle you were.
The group of young ladies all giggled and the one with ginger hair had been brave enough to give you the directions of the estate you were looking for. "Thank you." Sending the group another sweet gentleman-like smile once more, you head straight off to the estate of your old previous home of yours.
Upon arriving at the estate, it looked slightly different than what it used to be in the past. The moment your footsteps slowed to a halt, you were quite in awe of the estate that seemed unfamiliar and familiar to you at the same time. You were sure enough that nobody back home would recognize you as you have lost the same grandiose you once had before you became a street rat or perhaps a notable crewmate.
You had to change your style quite often when out on the sea or raiding other places for something to fill your stomach. Some days, you'd often go on starving due to the rations not being enough, but that could never stop your dreams from being fulfilled of a lifetime of an adventure.
"Excuse me... Do I perhaps, know you?"
