"Pete?"
He looked up and smiled. "Hey, Kalie."
I seriously wanted to punch him. "Why are you here?"
He shrugged. "Food."
Brendon came in and stood beside me. "Hey, Pete."
"Hey, Brendon. Mind if I join you two?"
"Yes," I said as Brendon said,"No."
"Pete, go bother someone else," I said to him.
Pete acted hurt but kept his smirk on his face. "Come on, Kalie. You can't hate me that much, can you?"
"Can I speak with you," I asked Pete.
Without waiting for an answer, I grabbed his arm and dragged him outside.
"When I left you loved me. What happened," Pete asked me.
Tears swelled in my eyes. "You left me, Pete. You didn't tell me where you went. You just disappeared. You should be grateful I'm speaking to you."
Pete examined my face and wiped a tear from my cheek.
"I'm sorry, Kalie. I really am," He said sincerely.
"Just let me and Brendon hang out alone. I'll talk to you later. 'Kay?"
Pete smiled. "Alright."
He walked off and I wrapped my arms around myself and walked back in the cafè.
"You okay," Brendon asked me.
I wiped my eyes and nodded. "I'm fine."
I sat and we ordered our food and drinks. Brendon looked at me.
"So you knew Pete before?"
I nodded. "Yeah. We kinda...um...Dated a little. Then he moved."
Brendon nodded. "Oh. So you're okay?"
I laughed. "Brendon, I'm fine. Stop asking."
I stopped eating and looked at the time. "Crap! I was supposed to be home ten minutes ago!"
Brendon helped me clean up our food and walked me outside. "I'll drive you home," Brendon offered me.
I actually hugged him. "Thank you so much!"
He laughed and led me to his car. We climbed in and I told him which way to go. Once in my driveway, I turned to look at him.
"Thanks, Brendon," I said to him. I got out and ran to the front door. Patrick appeared when it opened.
"Are they home," I asked him.
"Nah," He replied. I sighed in relief and waved at Brendon before shutting the door behind me.
"I thought I was dead," I said to him.
He laughed. "You know all they'd do is give you a stern talking to."
I shrugged. "Yeah, I guess. I saw Pete. "
Patrick put his arm around me. "I told him why I was mad at him. I might have cried. A lot."
Patrick laughed. "He understands how he screwed up," He explained to me.
I smiled. "I know. G'night, Pattycakes."
I walked to my bedroom and got into my pajamas and climbed into bed. Thoughts of Pete, school, and Brendon invaided my mind. It took me ten minutes to finally go to sleep.
