Imperative (A Marauder's Era Fanfiction)

Introduction

I don't believe in love. There are a lot of things I have grown to believe in which lay outside the realm of possibility... but love is not one of them. 

The vast entanglement within a web of false hope is not enough to sustain me. I would rather live under the stars as I bare my face to the bitterness of cold truth than believe in the possibility of love. My heart is closed but my eyes open wide, for what reason I do not know. The slightest bit of hope will push me over the edge of the rocky cliff and into the tumbling grey water below.

 Yes, I must not hope. For in hope there is only disappointment and in love... a rather large fall.

Madeleine Jane Lupin, the girl who was afraid to love, afraid to place her heart into the care of anyone other than her brother.
