The Magical Bond

Chapter XVIIII

"Why did you hide this from me!?" The head officer exclaimed.

"Well... because he made me promise him not to tell anyone." Evie responded in the calmest voice she could.

"That is no excuse! I am your superior and blah blah blah!"

~Few hours later

Evie sighed, "he really knows how to talk an ear off."

"I'm sorry I couldn't help," Onyx said "but none of us were allowed to be present. They took the necklaces and everything."

"It's fine, I'm just glad he gave them back."

Evie was in her room laying on her bed, pouting because she wasn't allowed to walk yet.

"I just want to get outside of this room at this point!"

"Well you can't," said Topaz "you must get better first!"

"And remember that this whole fiasco only happened about 14 hours ago." Mystery added.

"Easy for you guys to say. I'm a type of person that doesn't like being in one place for long, or at least when it isn't my choice."

"Get some sleep, I know you must be tired." Topaz said, "I'll even sing you a song."

Evie gave Topaz an annoyed glare and turned to face the wall. Topaz just smiled and started singing.

"Dancing bears, painted wings. Things I almost remember. And a song someone sings. Once upon a December."

Evie knew this song, it was called Once upon a December. It was from the movie, Anastasia. She loved the movie and that song was always calming to her. Soon enough Evie fell asleep.

"Thank you Topaz," Mystery said out of the blue.

"What for?" Topaz questioned.

"For getting her to sleep. If I had to get her to sleep it would atleast take 4 more hours."

"Oh really?"

"Yes really. Like she said she doesn't like being in one place for long so she would have fought to leave the room."

"Haha, well then let's leave her alone to sleep. It's better that she gets the most amount possible."

"Ya."

Topaz and Mystery left the room to go find Onyx who was in the kitchen.

"What are you doing Onyx?" Topaz asked.

"Well I thought to say thank you to Evie I would make something for her." Onyx responded.

"Well that sounds like a wonderful idea!"

"Only there's one issue..."

"And that would be?"

"How do we cook?"

"Good question..."

Topaz and Onyx stayed in thought until Mystery shouted "hey!"

"Yes Mystery?" Topaz asked.

"We could always go find the director. I hear he's great at making food."

"That sounds like a wonderful idea! However, we'll need someone to watch Evie to make sure she doesn't leave if she wakes up."

"Well even though I want to stay here with Evie I suggest I don't since I know this place best."

"Ya and I know it second best so have a fun time Topaz." As Onyx said his last statement they both walked out the door."So where do you think he could be?"

"Don't know, he could be anywhere."

"That's a great lead to work with."

"Why don't we check that garden, might as well start somewhere."

"Good idea."

Mystery and Onyx walked to the garden to start their search for the director. When they got there no luck. Second try at the cafeteria, still no luck. They went from room to room and still no luck. They were walking down the hallway to go back to their room, defeat in their eyes.

"Geez, we looked everywhere and still couldn't find him." Mystery complained.

"Well he could be moving around" Onyx commented.

"Ya but wouldn't we run into him by now?"

"Mystery!" A voice called and Mystery and Onyx turned around to see the owner, it was the director. "What are you doing here? I thought you would be with Evie."

Mystery told Will that they had a favor to ask.

"They?"

"Oh! I forgot he can't see me." Onyx said and he made himself visible to the director and Will.

"Woah!" The director almost fell back when Onyx appeared.

"I'm sorry to have scared you but can you do us a favor?"

"What would a guardian ask of me?"

"I hear you're good at cooking."

"I'm not the best in the world but yes, I can cook."

"Will you help us with a surprise?"

"What kind of surprise?"

Mystery and Onyx told the director what they were planning on the way back to their room. They got to the kitchen where Topaz was waiting patiently.

"Ah! You guys are back!" Topaz exclaimed.

"Ya, hey anything happen with Evie?" Mystery asked.

"Not a word, I told you she was tired. Now who are these two?"

Topaz looked toward the director and again he almost fell back from surprise.

He cleared his throat and stood straight "I'm the director, and this is Will" he said.

"Now that's not your name, I want your name please."

The director looked toward her, then Will, then he sighed. "My name Jeremy."

"That's a wonderful name! Now you're going to help cook right?"

"Right and if I'm gonna be doing most of the work you guys are listening to me, got it?"

"Got it!" Everyone said in unison.

"Now what are we gonna make?"

"I was thinking a nice dinner." Onyx said.

"No I believe something for a sick person would fit better." Topaz commented.

"No, she should get something more filling for once."

"Just because you've been with her longer, it hasn't been much longer. Don't think you're right because of that."

"Really? You wanna go?"

"Ya! Whoever wins gets to chose what we make!"

"Oh your so on!"

Before they were able to get the battle started Mystery ran up to them and bit their legs.

"What was that for Mystery!?" They both exclaimed.

"Both of your opinions are good but that's not what we should make." Mystery said.

"Then what?" They said in unison again.

"We need to make a cake."
