Everyone was sitting outside at our usual lunch table, Jeremy was right next to me and I had just sat down coming from geography. I knew what was going to happen today, Kevin had been bugging us about it since we went to the park last Saturday morning. No one was talking, so now was as good of a time as any to say what needed to be said, "Guys." I said putting their attention on me.
No one said anything, everyone just stared at me wondering what I was going to say next, except for Jeremy and Kevin because they already knew. "Jeremy and I are-"
"Fucking?" Josh asked. "Dude we all knew."
I turned bright red like a tomato, "No we aren't fucking, just in a relationship." I said.
"I feel like I have no straight friends left." Kevin whined. "Who else here is in a relationship?" He asked and no one said anything.
The rest of lunch was rather awkward, granted that it was entirely my own fault that it was, but having no one say a word for the next 20 minutes really didn't help me feel any better.
I wasn't any less than ecstatic by the time the bell rang. I gathered my stuff from underneath the table and went upstairs to my art classroom, where some of us were still working on the abstract sculptures. Alex's still looks like a potato.
"You're so good at art you know that?" I laughed as the late bell rang, we were gathering up our utensils to start working. "Yeah, I think it belongs in a museum." He said and admired it.
"The museum of natural garbage?" Kevin asked.
"Shut up."
"Well at least my sculpture looks like something, instead of a blob."
"It's a potato." I corrected him.
"Yeah what Eric said, a potato."
Alex shut his mouth and continued to work on his crummy looking vegetable, my art work wasn't as good as many of the other ones in the room, but it was still a whole lot better than whatever Alex is doing.
"I really need some lotion." I said feeling how dry my elbows and the palms of my hands were. "Do either of you have any?"
"Yeah it's right here in my purse Eric, hold on just a second." Kevin pretended to be a lady and hand me something from their purse.
"Ok Kevin I think I asked for lotion, not sass. That's supposed to come from my end so excuse you." I snapped my fingers in a Z formation.
"That was pathetic." He giggled and continued working on his masterpiece, that is what I decided to call it because it was a lot better than mine and even better than Alex's.
The end of class rolled around pretty quickly and we packed away our stuff, I went into one of the cabinets to grab some petroleum jelly in place of the lotion because no one seemed to have any.
I walked out of the art room right after the bell rang and went immediately to geometry. Probably my least favorite class, which used to be gym. At least I know what I'm doing in film.
I handed in my homework and sat down with Josh, Jeremy and Neil. We spent this whole class usually talking to each other and not paying attention to the teacher ever.
I was the first one to speak in the group trying to make the best of an awkward situation. "So what's going on?" I asked, that was an odd question especially since it's only been like an hour since I've seen these guys, I don't think anything too interesting happened in fifth period.
"Not much, fifth period was boring as usual." Josh said with a quiet voice.
The quiet atmosphere did not last long, the teacher started the class off with slamming the door shut behind her and screaming at us???
Well on any other given day I would be sitting in this same chair and just talking with Jeremy, Josh and Neil, but it was rather hard to not pay any attention while your ex-chemical engineer geometry teacher was yelling in your face.
"All of you need to work harder in life, these test scores and quizzes reflect back on me and how I am as a teacher. I teach you what you need, you need to apply it to your lives people." She went on and on about this county test we had to take an we all did poor on, I know I did.
I almost rolled my eyes, but I was afraid that if I did, then the teacher would personally screw them out of my head.
She placed packets upon packets of work and told us to just do it, and whatever we didn't do we would end up having to do at home. Well if you didn't spend half the class yelling and screaming, then we would have more time to do your useless work.
I did one full packet and the first two questions on a different paper, and I ran out of the room going down the hall to the geography room. This period and fourth period were the only reasons I went to school, AP geography is literally a class of ten people and all we do is regular on grade level work for more credit.
I walked in, the people in this class were actually really nice to me despite everyone else being a total cunt.
She played us an old movie and while she did that, she handed out this single sheet of paper and told us to hand it in at the end of class, she even let us all use our phones on it, I was done within ten minutes and continued to watch the rest of the movie.
When the bell rang for the end of the day, I got out if my seat, headed downstairs and went to my locker, shoving all the packets of geometry work into my bag and heading out to the student parking lot. I waited for Jeremy and Neil to drive them home.
"Hey guys." I said and unlocked the car, I pulled out of the parking lot and listened to Blink 182 the entire drive home, Neil asked to be dropped off at his house, so I did and headed back.
"Finally, relaxation time." Jeremy said and we both sat on the couch, trying to find whatever we could on the TV.
Maybe about an hour of us watching Spanish soap operas went on before we heard a loud knock at the door. "Hopefully it isn't a murderer, Jeremy get it." I said.
Jeremy went into the other room to open the door, he was out of my line of sight.
The next thing I remembered was a loud slam, followed by Jeremy screaming his head out on the front porch.
