Chapter 16
*Angie's Point Of View*
Waking up, I felt extremely uncomfortable. I sat up from my awkward half laying-sitting postion to find myself on the couch.Forgetting briefly how I got here.
My fingers found a piece of paper next to my lap, picking it up I read,
Morning Ang,
I had to go down to the studio, Jen's not home either so maybe if you feel up to it come down and hangout for awhile?
- Justin
I got up, placing the note on the coffee table, and stretching my arms out, feeling a tightness in my shoulder and neck. Damn couch.
I decided on hopping into the shower before going. The hot water possibly easing the knot in my shoulder.
Getting out of the shower, I put on some black loose fitting varsity sweatpants I had to roll three times, and a white long sleeved shirt. I threw my hair up onto my head into a messy bun and put my glasses on, my eyes popping against the black frames.
Grabbing my keys and putting on some moccasins, I headed to my car.
***
I pulled into the parking lot, looking for a spot close to the door because it had started raining on my way here. And I didn't want to be completely drenched before heading into the studio.
Finding a spot and getting out of my car, I stuffed my keys into my pocket, lanyard falling out.
I opened the door and could hear music flowing through the hallway, a catchy beat drifting to me.
Following the sound I walked into a recording studio, seeing Justin on the other side of the glass, headphones on his ears, sitting on a stool with a guitar on his lap, looking down at a sheet of paper.
On the other side, outside the recording box was a man with spiked up hair, advicing Justin on his last cord.
He looked up at my entrance, smile forming on his lips as he got up from his stool walking over to me.
"Hello love. Can I help you with something?" He asked me kindly.
"Oh I-" I began but was interrupted.
Justin came out of the booth walking up behind him.
"Hey Ang!" He said eyes glowing.
I smiled at him as the man spoke again.
"Ah, this is Angie then?" He said knowing glint shown in his eyes.
"Well hello Angie, I'm Scooter Braun, Justin's manager. It's nice to finally meet you." He said holding his hand out.
I gripped it shaking, "Hi Scooter, it's nice to meet you too."
He smiled and turned to Justin, "You were right Justin, she is beautiful."
Justin looked away quickly clearing his throat, but not before shooting him a glare.
Laughing I changed the subject.
"What was it you were playing?"
Justin looked at me then, his eyes turned warm falling on me.
"It's my new single 'I Would' for my acoustic album. I've been working on it a lot lately." He said simply.
"Hmmm, the cord you were playing sounded good." I said remembering the sweet sound pouring throughtout the hallway.
"Thanks." He said looking away.
Scooter's phone rang then, him shooting an apology our way before leaving, phone up to his ear.
"Come here, I wanna show you something." Justin said suddenly.
He led me into the booth closing the door behind us.
"Have a seat Angie." He said, gesturing to the stool, as he pulled another one up next to it.
I sat turning to him. He handed me a paper, taking it I looked down reading.
'I Would' was scribbled on the top in the same handwriting the note was in from this morning.
The sound of his guitar strumming pulled my attention up to his face as he began to sing.
"If I could take away the pain, put a smile on your face, baby I would, baby I would.
If I could make a better way, so you can see a better day, baby I would, baby I would.
Be the doorway to the sky, lend you the keys, let you know that you're welcome so you never leave.
Ohhh buy you all those fancy things that you see on tv.
Run away to a hideaway, let you live the American dream.
And I know it's never gonna be that easy, but I know that he wanted us to try.
If I could take away the pain, put a smile on your face, baby I would, baby I would.
If I could make a better way, so you could see a better day, baby I would, baby I would."
His voice dragging out the last word as he came to a stop.
My heart melted as his voice rang out into the booth, my gaze never leaving his face.
The strumming to the guitar faded with his voice. He looked up from his guitar to me then.
"That's all I have so far, what do you think?" He asked me almost shyly, his tone was soft.
"That was beautiful Justin. I've never heard anything acoustic from you honestly."
His gaze burned at my words.
"I wouldn't think so Ang." Tone still light.
I looked away guilty.
"I didn't mean it like that Angie, I honestly don't really care that you're not a belieber. I should, shouldn't I? But I just don't."
I nodded at his words feeling slightly better.
"I didn't know you wore glasses." He said interrupting my thoughts.
Meeting his gaze again, "I hardly wear them, or need them really. I just sometimes have those off days where my eyes hurt."
"I like them." He said. His eyes had been burning into mine since I got here. The brightness of the melted brown distracting me.
"I- thanks." Wow. Look at you Angie. Stuttering again.
He didn't seem to mind, opening his mouth to say something but interrupted as Scooter spoke into the mic.
"Am I interrupting?" He said amusement and teasing laced through his words.
I sat up, realizing I was leaning forward. Feeling slightly smug at the way Justin sat up too, irritated expression displayed across his face.
*Scooter's Point Of View*
Hanging up the phone I felt extremely thirsty after being in the studio with Justin all morning.
Justin was probably thirsty too, he'd been singing with a lot more enthusiasm today.
And I had taken a slight notice to the way his eyes lightened as he saw Angie walk in this morning. Maybe hinting at where some of the enthusiasm came from.
Well, I could now see why he was so hung up on her. She was very beautiful as he's said a million times before.
I recognized the eyes he'd explained in so much detail before. And they were a sight to see, the blue almost stunning. She clearly had no idea what she had on him..
My mind continued drifting as I picked up three iceteas from a vending machine and headed back to the studio room.
Entering the doorway I saw both of them seated in the booth across from eachother.
Justin was singing his song to her.
Angie's hands were holding onto the sheet of paper he had been writing on earlier, but her gaze was fixed on him.
At the way her gaze stayed on him, and the softness of her eyes, maybe told me she liked him possibly the same way Justin so obviously liked her.
He finished the song and stared up at her, their gazes locking.
It was then I decided to intrude on their little moment, and I was definately teasing Justin later on this.
Grabbing the mic, and switching it on, I put it closer to my mouth, "Am I interrupting?"
At my voice both of them bolted upright, clearly not aware at how close they had just been.
Justin looked towards me, expression completely irritated. I was going to hear it later from him.
Then it hit me.
The intensity and emotion in his voice made me realize the inspiration behind why he'd been singing so much happier today. Why he came in talking about a new single he had started writing. Why the single described his relationship, and want he had for Angie. And she sat there right in front of him completely oblivious.
I cracked the code. Justin had written her a song.
