"He pulled her close beaming down on her sun-kissed skin. Their eyes lost in each other and their hands intertwined. He held her in his arms and placed a delicate kiss on her lips..."
"That's it!", I exclaimed, slamming my book shut and pushing it across the table. Skye's face poked out from over her book. I had clearly disturbed her from her all important Geography revision.
"What now Summer?" she sighed deeply.
"It's not fair" I squealed, "Every book I read has to involve some kind of romantic plot".
Skye just sniggered at me and rolled her bright green eyes, "Summer, I've already told you about this. One day you'll find your perfect man"
I laughed at the very idea that I, Summer Sextown could ever get a boyfriend.
3 reasons why I am single:
1. I am socially awkward.
2. I am colour blind. This may not seem like an issue to some people but let's just say I brighten up the room when I walk in. One day I arrived to my sociology class wearing pink trousers and a neon green T-Shirt. I was EXTREMELY popular that day.
3. MY NAME! It is incredibly hard for me to sustain a relationship once a boy finds out my last name. Can you imagine what it's like to have a great conversation with a boy and then for them to read your college lanyard and discover your last name is 'Sextown'. I sound like I just popped out of 50 shades of grey.
"Earth to Summer" Skye whispered whilst stabbing her dangerously sharp elbows into my side (I swear she sharpens them). Alfie her high school sweetheart had appeared at the table and was sat opposite us.
"Are you still okay for tonight?" Alfie asked Skye. My ears tuned into their conversation and blocked the rest of the world out.
"YES YES YES" Skye said grinning like the Cheshire cat. Alfie moved a strand of hair away from her face and placed a delicate kiss on his cheek. She reached out for Alfie's hands and began to blush.
I threw her a look followed by a grin. In our 7 years of friendship we had fully mastered eye communication. Within one look I knew exactly what Skye's night had in store.
I turned round attempting to continue with work when someone caught my eye. My jaw dropped. Alfies incredibly cute friend, George was heading towards our table. I tried to look away but it was too late we had already made eye contact. A smile was shot in my direction and I was fighting off the urge to scream in excitement. He pulled out the chair opposite me and slumped into it. Running his fingers through his auburn hair he began to groan.
"Double maths will be the death of me"
I couldn't help but look up and laugh. He smiled at me and I felt his hand brush against mine, it sent a tingle through my body like a little burst of electricity. It was in that moment that my life changed. No longer could I think straight, I couldn't help but think about the amazing life we would have together.
In that moment I fell in love.
