Dan's eyes watered, streaks running down his cheeks just as the raindrops raced down his bedroom windows. Thunder boomed, lightning cracked and Dan was alone with himself, every roar coming from the sky causing him to huddle into the sheets even more, desperately trying
to block out the sound and get some shuteye, but it was useless. It was too bright, too strong, and too scary. Or at least, that's how Dan saw it.
Phil had gone to stay with his parents over Easter as he hadn't seen them since January, and Dan fully understood that. But that didn't mean he was okay with it, he knew well that it was a selfish thing to crave, having Phil all to himself and no one else. But he couldn't help it, Phil was the sunny day shining through his dark and stormy clouds.
Dan rolled over, a pillow snuggled into his arms and the moonlight illuminating his surroundings. He grabbed at his phone, lighting it up and scanning over the time, which read as 4:27 AM. Then he got an idea.
He knew it was bothersome and that it would wake Phil from his earned sleep, but his greediness caught his mind and wouldn't let him loose.
He clicked the phone icon next to Phil's contact name, erupting an annoying ringing to echo in his ear.
"Hello? Dan?"
Dan's breath stopped. He actually answered, and somehow this surprised him. Phil took the time to wake up, answer his phone, and make the effort to speak to him.
"H-Hey Phil?" he whispered, trying to be quiet even though there was no reason to as no one else was in the apartment.
"Yeah? What is it?" Phil's voice sounded groggy and bedridden, almost deeper from sleeping. It was comforting, the mere voice of the person he ached so much could lull him to sleep in minutes.
"I-I can't-" he was cut off by a slam of thunder, surprising his unstable mind and causing the phone to stumble out of his grip.
Dan scrambled to pick it up, pressing it to his ear as more rivers ran down his porcelain skin.
"Dan? You okay? Is there a storm there?"
"Yeah! I'm fine, and yeah. There's a storm."
"You can't sleep can you?" Dan nodded as if he could see him, but to Phil, he was silent.
Phil made a strange groaning noise before softly speaking again, "wanna hear a story?"
"Yeah, that'd be nice," Dan mumbled lazily, beginning to get comfortable and hug his pillow replacement for Phil's body, nuzzling his head into it with the phone on speaker.
Phil began going on about his day, how his parents bought him a giant chocolate and how earlier that day, he ran into an old lady on the street and her dog bit his ankle.
Within minutes, Dan was sound asleep with Phil's pretty words still leaking from his phone. Dan's soft snores put him to a stop.
When Dan woke up the next morning, he was surprised to find a body next to him instead of a pillow, his was face pressed onto Phil's chest and dried tears on the raven haired boy's thumbs. He cuddled into Phil's body, sucking up all of the extra body heat and quickly drifting back to sleep in the morning sunlight.
He came home a day early, just for Dan.A/N:
