She stood next to the stream with a paintbrush in hand. Everyone who lived here knew of her talented work as an artist. It made great money. Often she was called away to paint others. But today she had the day to herself.
She could faintly smell the rain, but she was guarded under a tall tree. The breeze slowly began to pick up as she painted the scene in front of her. Nothing but beautiful wildlife for miles to see. She was blessed with this view.
The blues and greens began to mix on her canvas as she continued to paint. Little did she know, not far from where she was standing, a dwarf was admiring her from afar. He noticed how her hands and arms slowed down on certain parts, before quickly picking back up to a fast pace. Her hair was pinned back in a low bun, but strands had made their way out, causing her to stop painting and push it behind her ear.
He noticed a thin line of blue paint above her eyebrow and smiled at how she didn't care. He wanted to meet this girl. Talk to her. Get to know her. Just by looking at her, he knew she was something special.
He continued to stare until she stopped and took a step back, admiring her work. It was beautiful. She sighed and grabbed a small rag and wiped her hands off, before sitting down and leaning against the tree.
When she looked back up, the rain began to pour down and she smiled. She quickly stood up and ran out into the rain and splashed around in the stream. She was barefoot and her light blue dress became soaked from the rain water.
Fili made his way out of the bushes. If he wanted to introduce himself, now was the time. Before she got to cold and went home.
He slowly walked over to her. When she turned, she saw Fili from the corner of her eye and stopped twirling.
"Hello." Fili quickly said before he could change his mind.
"H-hi." She stuttered.
"I'm Fili. I live not to far from here in the mountains. What is your name?" He asked, gaining more and more courage.
"(Y/N)." She said, without hesitation. She was weirdly attracted to him too.
"That is a very beautiful name." He said, putting his hands behind his back.
"Thank you." She said with a smile.
They stopped talking and stared down in awkwardness. Her feet began to get cold as she realized she was standing in the stream still. When she went to move, she stepped on a slippery rock and fell in the water, getting drenched.
She let out a yelp, as Fili went to grab her.
He pulled her out of the water and offered her his coat.
"Thank you." She whispered, pulling the coat around his shoulders.
"Would you like to get warmed up? Before you have to go home?" Fili asked her, hoping she would say yes.
"I would like that very much." She said.
He smiled and then helped her carry her canvas and paints to his home. When they arrived, they were both chilled and soaked from the rain.
He made them both tea, before they sat down by the fire and began to chat. It was little things at first. Then he told her things and she to him. They both enjoyed each others company.
After a few hours or so, Fili got the courage to ask her.
"(Y/N)." Fili said softly.
"Yes?" She asked, looking up from the fire.
"Will you paint me?" He asked, his blush growing.
A smile broke out on her face and she removed the blanket off her shoulders and grabbed her paints and more canvas.
