The moment History was over, I hesitated going to Math because I knew Jessica and Nick were in that class. Before I left History Oscar gave me and squeeze in the arm.

"Good luck Vanessa."

"Thanks Oscar."

He ran to ELA with John and I watched him. It was cute the way he ran. Mari kept eyeballing me. She was getting suspicious. I'll tell her later. When we got to the class,Mrs. T told us to find a seat. We got new seats in Math too but we got to choose them. I sat with Marianna, Jasmine, and Mike. We usually saved a seat for Nick but now he was an outcast. He can sit with his girlfriend for all I care. Once the seats were settled, we partnered up for projects. Before the dreaded two were going out, it was me, Marianna, and Nick in a group. We were to far in to switch. When we joined groups Mari sat between us. While we were working in the project, Nick kept staring at me. He really wanted to tell me something. I could tell. I ignored him until we returned to our seats. Jessica was comforting him over something. I could tell it was about me. He kept looking over. I was glad Oscar wasn't there. Mari noticed and gave Jessica her nasty stare. With that they stopped. She has saved me once again from the pain returning. We got our HW and were working on it when Nick asked if he could be excused. He looked upset. I felt bad for giving him the cold shoulder. I decided to talk to him after school. With that, the bell rang and I walked with Marianna to the pick up zone. Today was a minimum day so class was cut early. She walks home but I wait for my mom. I saw Oscar outside the class and I said good bye to him by brushing through his hair and pushing him towards the bus. I saw that Jessica walked herself to the bus. A few minutes later, Nick approached me. He sat on the curb and I joined him.

"What is it you needed to talk to me about Nick."

"Vanessa, I use to really like you but when Jessica asked me out I stopped. But over the past few days I've seen how you've changed and what this has done to our friendship. If this is how it's going to be I don't want it like that. If you're going to act like this tell me now so I can leave Jessica."

"Nick, this changes everything."

"Really?"

"No but. I'll think about it. The day I heard you two were dating was the day I was going to tell you I liked you but after I heard that, the flame went out and left. I didn't have anyone but Oscar has comforted me after you caused the damage. My heart was broken but it was mended Marianna. I've moved on and so should you. We are friends again but not like before."

Right then my mom drove up.

"Bye Nick."

"Bye."

With that I got in and left. Day two wasn't as bad as day one.
