I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think they'd understand

I was sitting against my car when I heard Stein and the others come to the spot where we are supposed to meet Rip.

"Professor! This is the place," Snart called as Stein got out of his car that has a sleeping Jefferson in it.

"I think we're being punked. Do people still say "punked"?" Ray asked.

"No," I said bluntly.

"I see your buddy threw himself a going-away party," Mick observed. I look over a saw Jackson sleeping. If you can call it sleeping.

"Yes, I believe he drank something that didn't quite agree with him," Stein replied.

"You don't look happy to be here." Snart said as he looked at Kendra.

"Perceptive," she said

"Well, I see you've all decided to come. Well then, we can be on our way," Rip said as he walked toward us.

"I ain't footing it anywhere," Snart told Rip.

"A Time Master's sacred charge is to do no harm to the timeline. Can you imagine what a timeship would look like in, say, Victorian England?" Rip asked.

"Holographic indigenous camouflage projection," Stein and I said at the same time.

"Indeed," Rip said as he pressed a button on a little remote. A large timeship appeared in front of us. WR-2055 was painted on the side of it. "It's called it the Waverider. It's been my ship for over a decade. Shall we?" He said as we all started walking to the ship.

"Whoa," Ray said in awe.

"I bet it uses ionic propulsion," I said to Ray and Stein.

"I doubt that very much, given that even advanced technology wouldn't be able to sustain an ionic reaction," Stein replied.

"It's possible if you stabilize the quantum flux," Ray said backing me up. "You know, we actually covered this before, Professor Stein, when I was your student, many moons ago? Perhaps you remember my paper on subspace field mechanics?" Ray asked hopefully.

"I don't remember you, Mr. Palmer," Stein told him as he walked away.

"Oh," Ray said softly.

"Whatever you roofied him with, I'd like some," Mick said as he put his hand on Stein shoulder.

"I did not roofie him," Stein said defending himself.

"Oh, I ain't judging," Mick told him.

"How does a vessel of this size function without a crew?" I asked Rip.

"I don't need one. I have Gideon." Rip informed me. I recognized that name, it is the name of the computer thing fake Harrison Wells also know as Eobard Thawne had. It was probably just a coincidence.

"Welcome aboard. I am Gideon an interactive artificial consciousness programmed to operate this vessel's critical system and aid Captain Hunter in his mission."

"Captain?" Leonard questioned raising a eyebrow.

"Gideon's been working on helping me locate Vandal Savage," Rip stated.

"I thought you said he's pretty active in the 22nd century," Ray said.

"It probably not the best to engaging Savage at the height of his powers isn't the best strategy," I said.

"Indeed. Unfortunately, Savage had kept his movements hidden throughout history. Not even Gideon can determine where or when we can find him. But I have the next best thing: the man who can. Professor Aldus Boardman. Professor Boardman is the world's leading... well, only... expert on Vandal Savage. We're going to pay him a little visit," Rip told us.

"Course plotted for St. Roch, New Orleans."

"St. Roch?" Carter questioned.

"October 17, 1975."

"I suggest you all strap yourselves in. Temporal navigation isn't something one wants to be standing up for," Rip said. I sat down in the one-seater across from Ray and Kendra and pulled the straps down.

"Time travel. Cool," I stated.

"Some of you may experience some slight discomfort. In very rare instances, there will be some, uh bleeding from the eyeballs," Rip said.

"I'm sorry, what?" Kendra asked shocked.

"The human body is used to time unfolding linearly," Rip said. As the spaceship got off of the ground, Jackson awoke.

"Jackson, I'm so glad you're awake. I didn't want you to miss this," Stein said as he noticed Jackson waking up.

"Miss what? What the..." Jackson question as he realized where he was he tried to get out of his seat.

"Oh, no, I wouldn't unfasten those if I were you," Rip told him.

I tuned them out as I felt my control slip away. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. For the past few months, I'd been slowly losing control of myself. The effects of the radiation and the Particle Excelerator explosion where effecting my brain and slowing making me lose my humanity. Cisco had given me this device that I put behind my ear and it injects a serum into me whenever I start to loose control. I tuned back into their conversation as we landed.

"Oh, I should have mentioned it before. Nausea is one of the side effects of time travel, along with... Aah! Vertigo," Rip said as Mick threw up and Ray fell down.

"I can't see," Stein said taking off his glasses.

"And temporary blindness. Oh, it should only last a minute. After all, that was only a mere jaunt. The further back in time you go, the worse the side effects. Better?" Rip asked.

"It's all relative," Stein replied.

"Good," Rip said.

"I can't believe you kidnapped me. Hey, I want to go home," Jefferson yelled.

"Good news, then. 2016 will be around in, uh, 41 years. Now, you four, feel free to make yourselves comfortable back here on the ship, while the rest of you are coming with me to find Professor Boardman," Rip said to Mick, Leonard, Sara, and I.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You're benching us?" Mick asked stopping him from leaving.

"I thought we were a team," Sara said. You could recognize the hurt in her voice. I've heard it all to often.

"This mission doesn't require your particular skill set. Yet," Rip told us.

"Meaning you don't need anyone killed, maimed ore robbed," Leonard said.

"And you don't want anyone to be freaked out by magic," I said.

"Precisely," Rip said.

"Sure it's a good idea to leave these two unsupervised on a time machine?" Ray asked. I agreed two criminals on a ship that can travel in time. They'd probably go and raid King Tut's tomb.

"Hey, haircut! Deafness wasn't one of the side effects," Mick yelled at Ray.

"We better hurry up, Professor Boardman will die in less than 24 hours," Rip says beginning to walk out the door.

"What's the point in cutting it so close?" Ray asks.

"Because if he's destined to die, then he doesn't have a timeline for us to disrupt, and his impact on the future will be minimal. How brilliant," Stein says.

"And depressing. How does he die?" Kendra questioned.

"Uh, he's found dead in his university from unknown causes. Come on," Rip says as he leaves.

"Are you coming?" Stein asks Jefferson.

"I'll stay put," Jefferson replies.

"You'd rather stay with them?" Stein questioned.

"They didn't drug me."

"Point taken."
