Stars In Her Eyes

They were actors

Wouldn't know each other if they weren't

They never talked but soon

He befriended her

One time they got off the stage

Together they went to their usual seats

When he noticed her gaze was strange

She looked at him with stars in her eyes

She knew that they would never be

So their friendship she held dear

And tried not to let him know

But the pink in her cheeks became clear

He didn't care and treated her the same

He recalled her joy

When he remembered her name

He didn't want to break her heart any more

Their time was drawing to a close

They both held onto it as long

As they possibly could

When it was over, she tried to be strong

He didn't know when he saw her again a few times

That after their parting

Every night she had cried

Until her loss eased into sleep

Six months later an opportunity arose

They could be together again

She was bouncing with excitement

He was eager to see his friend

When he saw her he gave her a playful kick

Which made her overjoyed and her temperature rise

He saw her face and smiled

She still had stars in her eyes
