He is behind me. He tells me nothing. I stare at him. Then he says, "I am pleased with this." I don't reply, but I should have because I knew he would want one. He vanishes after saying "7:30, Madison." I know what he means, but I still don't move. If I look away will he leave. He never does.

I wake up in the morning and get dressed. I head downstairs and eat eggs and cereal. One thing I can do is head to school. I look up at the fridge and I see a note that says
Food afterschool is in the fridge. Do your chores I will be home at 7:45.

I get in the car and drive the 10 minute drive to school. I was lucky, because as I get in the school the bell rings. I notice a glimpse of brown hair and I am on the ground. He helps me up and says "My name is Jake." I reply with "Maddie."
