Chosen

Chapter 1:The Choosing

"Are you ready?" My mother (the queen) calls.
"Almost, I just need to get into this huge dress"I call back.
"You are just like your grandmother"She says with a smile, thinking of old memories.
"Eadlyn, Amber, it's time to go to central hall for the Choosing" My father (the king) booms from down the long hall.

Every year there has been a choosing. Two people from each province get chosen to go to the edge of Illea for a battle to the death. Teens ages 13 to 18 have a chance of getting chosen for the games, even royalty such as myself and older twin Shalom-Hal for short-have a slight chance of getting picked.
We got the idea from a very wealthy man named Colin Shill. He and ha few of his friends have created a barrier around the outskirts of Illea. They make sure there is plenty of food, shelter and water. If the chosen ones seem like they have a chance of winning, people can sponsor them and give care packages when needed most. Every teen has to put their name in the ballet. If they don't then their family including them will get dragged of the prison.
No one knows why we do these games but everyone loves reality TV now-a-days. It's the biggest thing since the
Selection As you may know, after my mother's-now queen- selection, they stopped selections. Now, back to the story.

"Welcome everyone to the 15th annual Games!" The announcer Nicole Jones says over the sound a thousands of screaming people. Some weeping-hoping to not get picked- others anxious to see who will get chosen this year."I hope everyone is ready!" Nicole yells. A dignified looking man steps up onto the stage with two envelopes. "As you all know one boy and one girl from each province gets picked each year." The man says. "This is, for the girls" he says slowly as if waiting for something.
"It's Amber Woodwork-Shreave" says the man. Thousands of people gasp. Royalty has never been chosen before. With shaky legs I make myself over to the stage in my huge red dress. I have not thought that I would get chosen so I wore my biggest and prettiest dress.  "And for the boys..."The man says slowly, waiting again. "Conner Leger". Wait! Conner! He is one of the most innocent people I know! He is only 13, he might be the weakest person in the games. "I volunteer" calls a voice from the back. It's Kol! Conner's older brother. Well this will be hard. Kol is one of my best friends! How will I ever be able to kill him? In the back my parents and Tyler and Persia are crying.
One thought raced through my mind. How will this go?
