OMG IM SO SORRY FOR NOT UPLOADING IN SO LONG!!! Please forgive me, those of you who actually read this! And sorry this part is so short!!
I stood shock still, not quite comprehending what he had said.
"E-excuse me?" I stuttered, feeling that horrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. My blood ran ice cold through my veins. How was this possible? Could Julius really be... a Fairy?!
I looked frantically around, and heard a noise coming from him.
I turned to see his brown eyes shining and crinkled, his lips clamped tightly together, and his body trembling.
"W-what is going.." I began, backing away.
He doubled over and burst out laughing. "Aw man i got you so good you looked at me like i was insane!" He brushed a strand of hair out of his face, and looked up at me. "You know i was just kidding right?" He asked, looking worried.
"Oh! Of course!" I replied, giggling nervously and biting my lip. What was the point in that?
"So anyway." He began, sitting down in the sand and looking up at me with his beautiful eyes.
"Oh, right." I said, carefully crouching and slipping on my dress. I crashed to the ground, thankful for the soft sand that cushioned my fall.
"Hey!" Julius exclaimed, grabbing me around my waist. I felt my body convulse slightly at his touch, and shivers raced up and down my spin. I felt the world spinning around me, and my arms gave way.
If Julius hadn't have been holding me, i would have gotten a mouthful of sand.
He gently pulled me to his chest, and my body tensed.
Everything was spinning, it was like being on a merry-go-round that wouldn't stop.
I whimpered and grabbed his shirt, trying to stabilize my head by any means.
"Hey, hey calm down." He whispered. "You're ok, i got you."
His voice soothed me, but the world wouldn't stop spinning. My stomach began to churn and i felt as if i was going to throw up or pass out.
"Close your eyes, its going to be ok, i think you were in the sun for too long." He said softly, brushing my hair out of my face.
I shut my eyes tightly and everything slowly began to stop feeling so wrong.
After a few moments of him holding me, and closing my eyes, i slowly pulled myself out of his arms, and blushed furiously.
"Im so sorry!" i cried, feeling tears sting my eyes. Never before had i felt so awkward. "Im so sorry! I don't know what happened, that was so odd, please forgive me, you must hate me-"
He put his hand lightly on my shoulder. "Hey, don't sweat it. I didn't mind, helping a pretty damsel in distress." He gave a half smile.
"Oh... thank you ever so much, but now i feel so awkward." I said, staring at my hands. I was still confused on what had happened. Maybe i had been in the sun for too long. Or perhaps, it was my fight with Scarlett or the shocking news... or maybe just being around this amazingly attractive boy sent me into a panic attack.
"Lets pretend it didn't happen then." He smiled. "So, where are you from, Sapphire?" He asked, looking genuinely interested.
I began to tell him my story, obviously leaving out the part where i was a Fairy, and the fact that my father wasn't really my father. The idea seemed, still, so strange to me, impossible to grasp.
When I was finished, he smiled and told me about himself.
Apparently he and his mother had moved here from a small town in Texas. He seemed like a very interesting, sweet boy. He told me how he loved the woods, how he loved nature, and i could hardly keep myself from telling him who i truly was.
"I love nature too!" I exclaimed. I felt so happy, knowing that i had made another friend.
"Really?" He asked, an odd glint shining in his brown eyes. "That's interesting. Do you want to go take a walk in the woods?" He looked sincere.
"Oh... um." I glanced at the sun, almost all the way down in the sky over the water. "Its a little late dont you agree? My Father is probably excepting me home soon." For some odd reason, unease began creeping up on me again. I tried brushing it aside.
"Oh yea, of course!" He said, waving his hands and nodding. "Maybe we can hang out tomorrow? I really like you Sapphire." He smiled.
I tried to hold in a squeak that was tearing at my throat. "R-really? I like you too. I hope we become good friends."
He nodded. "Yea, and tell Scarlett to come too. We can all hang out together, show you around and what normal kids do." He smirked, and i blushed.
"Oh right, of course," I said, swallowing. "I must be off now! Take care, Julius." I said, getting up and dusting my dress off.
"You too, see ya around." He said, grinning.
While i was retracing the steps in which i had come, i felt a familiar chill dust my neck. I quickly turned and looked into the dark trees, only to find nothing there.
I sighed and and quickened my steps, hoping i would get home soon. I never wanted to be near the woods after dark again.
I was almost to the street, when i heard a soft growl from behind me.
Of course, i quickly turned and yelped as two huge yellow eyes glared at me from the darkness.
My breathing became rapid and choppy, but i still stood. It was odd, you never think you can actually be frozen in fear. But when i saw that creature, all sense left me, leaving me at the mercy of my fight or flight reflexes.
They were taking too long to decide.
I held the creature's gaze, and when my eyes could take it no longer, i blinked.
It was gone.
i swore, it had been standing right in front of me, gazing at me maliciously with those horrid eyes, and now it was just gone?
I bravely walked over to where it had been, thinking maybe i was just seeing things.
I put my hand on a low hanging tree branch, and something caught my eye. A single piece of crumpled up paper was tacked to the tree.
I curiously unhooked it, and widened my eyes as i read it.
I hope you like my surprise.
Love,
Oberon.
I didn't even realize i was running until my heart started aching. What surprise? Had he carried out with his threats?! Was my father...
I shoved those thoughts aside.
All that mattered now was getting home.
