"What part of HATE didn't you get?" The troll snaps back.
The human shrugs in return. "I don't really do hate love, Karkat."
Karkat sighs in defeat. "You don't need to say it. You're not a homosexual."
"But Rose told me you're a hermaphrodite, which means you're kind of both genders. That's not technically being gay," he counters.
The other blinks, frowning. "Are you trying to say you're into me?"
John smiles. "Maybe. Is it mutual?" Karkat shyly nods as John tilts his chin up. "Do you think I could uh...?" Again he nods and allows John to lean forward to kiss him.
And they lived happily ever after without Dave.
