Y/N transferred to Beacon Hills in the middle of the school year. She was short and curvy in all the right places. Her naturally black straight hair was long but thin, and always up in a messy bun. She always seemed to have confidence in herself and was comfortable in her skin as she rarely wore any make up, and when she did it was always light and simple. Except there was one problem, she was the new kid and she hated it. She felt so alone and out of place. She didn't know anyone, nor had she made any new friends; at least not until she met Liam Dunbar.

Liam was instantly drawn to her the second she walked into their history class and the teacher assigned her seat in front of his desk. For a couple of weeks, he couldn't find the courage to say hello. Every time she walked towards her desk, she would always shoot him a small shy smile, and he couldn't do anything other than give her a simple nod, which he always mentally slapped himself for being such an idiot and not saying hi. Instead, Liam would just admire her from his seat.

One day, Liam found the courage to talk to her and slowly they became friends. They passed notes during class, walked together in the hallways, and always texted after school or Liam's lacrosse practice. The two started developing feelings towards each other, except Y/N chose to ignore it and made sure to keep Liam in friendship zone.

When he finally asked her out to dinner and a movie, he couldn't understand why she turned him down. He knew she liked him because her heartbeat would constantly speed up or skip a beat whenever she's around him. He constantly made her blush, laugh, and smile, all signs Scott and Stiles told Liam were hints she liked him. He tried again. He asked her if she wanted to go black light bowling. She said she hated to bowl, but Liam knew she was lying. He suggested a fun night of miniature golf and batting cages, she politely declined by saying she was babysitting that weekend. Without her knowing, Liam heard her heart betray her. She could tell he wouldn't give up, so she suggested lunch and Liam said yes before she could take back her offer.

They had a great time during their lunch date; so much fun Liam suggested they should do it again, but dinner as their second date. Liam's heart sunk when she said their lunch wasn't a date and she only wanted to be friends with him. Liam couldn't understand what was wrong and why she kept turning him down. Liam had to confront her and decided to show up at her house to get some answers.

Y/N's eyes widened as she realized Liam was standing in front of her front door. "What, um, what are you doing here, Liam?"

"I wanted to talk." Liam's eyes scanned the empty house behind her. He raised an eyebrow with his lips pressed into a tight line before he spoke. "I thought you were babysitting."

"I am." Liam focused on her heartbeat, which didn't indicate she was lying. Suddenly, he heard another heartbeat, which was steady and calm.

"My brother is already asleep," Y/N finished her sentence.

"Right," Liam felt guilty for believing she had lied to him. "Is it okay if I come in for a few minutes? I really want to talk."

Y/N held her gaze with Liam's, which was clouded with so many mixed emotions, she couldn't pin point them. Liam was like an open book and for the first time since she's met him, she didn't know what he was thinking or feeling. However, judging by his tone, she knew it was something serious.

"Of course," she opened the door wider, motioning him to come in. "We can go into the living room."

Y/N led the way to the living room, Liam trailing behind her. Before she crossed her legs after plopping down on the couch, Liam blurted out, "why won't you date me?" at the same time Y/N asked, "what's up, Liam?"

Y/N bit the inside of her cheeks. She had a feeling Liam wanted to talk about something serious, but his blunt question was the farthest thing she imagined.
