I. Hate. School. And I hate it with a passion. These are my thoughts as I walk through the doors and into my school. I glanced at my schedule. I had chemistry first. I grabbed my books from my locker and walked to chemistry.
We were doing partner projects. The teacher started calling out teams at random. I zoned out until I heard my name. Then I perked up.
"Celia and... Erika." Said Mrs. Brown. Erika and I jumped out of our seats.
"That's really not a good idea!" We both yell. The teacher shakes her head.
"You have to work with whoever I paired you with, whether you like them or not." Mrs. Brown replied. We slumped down in our seats, angry. The rest of the day was a bit of a blur. When I was about to start my walk to the orphanage, someone tapped my shoulder. Erika.
"Hey we have that project today... My house or yours?" She asked. I looked at my feet. I had thought everyone knew I was an orphan.
"I'm an orphan so... Yours." I replied. She looks at me sympathetically and tells me to follow her to her car. I do, and soon we reach her house.
It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Something was nagging at the back of my mind.
"Erika? Why are you so rude to me?" I ask. She looks at me guiltily.
"I don't know, but if you want we can become friends. I'll even make you popular. You know, like give you a makeover." She replies. I smile widely, nodding in agreement. We head up to her room and finish the project in about an hour.
"Imagine if my parents adopted you?" Erika said.
"That would be, like, the most amazing thing in the world!" I replied. Her parents enter the room.
"Hello Erika. I just wanted to inform you that you will have a new sister. She was born on the same day as you. She was the daughter of my best friend who died in a plane crash. Her name is Celia Sage." Said Erika's mom. I screamed with excitement.
"WE'RE GOING TO BE SISTERS!" I yelled. We were jumping around the room.
"Oh, hi. I'm Celia Sage." I said to Erika's parents.
"Well nice to meet you. You girls continue whatever it is that you were doing." Her parents leave the room.
"Come on. Let's go shopping. Wait. Do you have a phone?" She asks. I shake my head. She gasps. "We gotta get you one of those." I nod. Well, back into the car we go.
