Skylar's POV

It's my parents funeral.

It has been a week since my parents died and I still can't cry I don't know if it's wrong of me but I'm still not sad.

"Hey there are you okay" my brother was standing against my door frame with his hands in his pockets, his face was as cold as ever but his eyes were a ocean of compassion.

"Yup what about you?"

"I'm doing good" he was lying to me I could sense it

"Close the door" For the past few days I've changed instead of being so afraid of everyone I've been barking orders like I've been doing this for years but the real change lied in front of me

"What's gotten into you?" My brother knew I was one to take orders from him then to give them to him

"Nothing I've gotten into the swing of being the leader of a gang" my voice was cold. I turned to look on the mirror as I put earings on

"I know your hurting Parker you, dad and mom were close" I looked at him in the mirror his black suit sat perfectly like it was sculpted just for his body, his jet black hair was brushed back and each hair was in it's place.

"You want to know the truth?"

"What truth?"

He took his jacket off put it aside, started unbutting his shirt. As the shirt fell to the floor my eyes explored the maze on his body. My eyes filled with tears his scars were older then mine but it was evident of what my father did to him.

"Oh my word, when did this happen?"

"Before your beatings started"

"That was six years ago"

"I know"

"Why didn't you tell me"

"I don't know I felt like I was your older brother and I should protect you from what dad did to me, you were far to projective over me when we were young"

I giggled, "I remember but how are you though?" I looked at him trying to figure out what our parents were thinking.

"I'm good" He looked at me for a few seconds

"What?"

"I'm proud of you"

"For what?"

"You are handling this differently then what I expected you to"

"What did you think that I would be crying uncontrollably for people I didn't care about because they didn't care about me"

"Sort of and mom and dad did love you trust me"

"Please I beg you to stop defending them"

"Okay I'll back off" he throw his hands up in the air as he surrendered. I must say it did feel good when he gave up fighting me and I won the argument. I smiled at him as I walked closer and picked up his shirt from the floor

"You should get dressed"

With a smirk on his face he took his shirt and start to put it on.

"You scared of what they'll think"

"You are so nasty, your my brother you idiot"

His laughter was so infectious that I couldn't stop myself from joining in.

We were getting ready together and the closer we got to the time the closer the nerves came and by the time I put my last layer of lip gloss my nerves were on full force. I shut my eyes trying to mentally prepare myself to face the some of the biggest gangs in the world not to mention some of our arch enemies my whole calming session was eruptly interrupted when a knock came to the door

"Who is it" my voice went from calm to cold again it just amazed me how much you change when you find out you're a leader of half of the biggest gang in the world.

"Boss it's Derek the guest is about to arrive" his voice was filled with fear that I wanted to burst out laughing Parker left so I could have a few more seconds to myself.

"I'm done anyways" I really didn't want to do this but here goes nothing.

As I opened the door I put on the coldest and hardest face I could which seemed to work since poor Derek looked like he was about to wet himself.

"I don't bite you can relax" my words didn't make an affect on him he tried to smile and nod his head but I knew he was still scared.
