The sun’s rays rose over the vast forest as birds chirped from their nest and rabbits poked their heads out of their homes in the ground. The forest was alive with animals rushing around, already busy with the day’s work. But they weren’t the only ones who were busy. Many werewolves were running around as they prepared for their Alpha to come and visit them. The women were getting the children dressed as well as preparing food in the kitchens. Men were getting the patrols together as everyone seemed to be rushing around.

Narissa was the only one who wasn’t as she sat on her bed and sharpened her sai, it helped to calm her even though she was used to killing, and she never did like it. It was a waste of life to kill someone as everyone had a purpose in this world but she couldn’t help it as it had been a direct order while Mr. Evans held onto her birth right. That was by far the only down side of being a mermaid, if someone gave you a command while holding your birth right, you had no choice but to follow through with it.

Sighing Narissa got up and walked over to her bathroom to take a shower, wanting to get her morning run sweat off of her. She shivered as the hot water rushed over her skin and she lifted her face to meet the water drops, the urge to swim was still strong but had lessen a bit from last night’s swim. She let the water help calm her nerves as she thought about what she would do to kill Lucian. She didn’t want to do it in front of everyone; perhaps just killing him in his sleep would be best. But Narissa cringed at the idea, she always meet her enemy face to face to give them a chance at fighting for their life.

She could feel her adrenaline kicking in as she thought more and more about how she was going to kill Lucian. I just felt so wrong to kill him for someone reason, unlike all her other kills, she was the most nervous about this one. Maybe it was because she had grown fond of the pack, she had spent the last four years with them and had even watched little Chris grow up to his little five year old self. It was strange; she almost felt she was leaving another family behind. If anything Narissa had started to feel responsible for their safety, even the safety of those in the pack they had joined.

Turning off the water, Narissa got out before her thoughts could go any farther. It may feel wrong to kill Lucian but she still had to do it. She had never heard of any mermaid nor merman going against their birth right. A command spoken with their birth right in hand held strong magic over her kind, it was like an unspoken promise that could never be broken. That must be why she was so nervous, it was going so long without fulfilling her command but she couldn’t help it. She knew it was going to be a long mission and so did Mr. Evans but still, she was doing it in rather record timing for knowing nothing about where Lucian’s home was. The pack may be big but they sure were tight lipped about where the Alpha and his heir stayed.

Throwing on some clothes, Narissa began to put her weapons on as usual just as three little kids, well teenagers, burst through her door. “Nari! Come on! Luna Megan wants us to go into town to pick up a few things for today.” Pete said loudly as he walked in followed by Sarah and Charles. The little trio always being together.

Narissa raised an eyebrow at them as she slipped her sai into place. “Why’s that. I thought they had gotten everything yesterday.” A whole trunk load had been brought back filled with food and extra blankets and pillows. Megan sure was going crazy but thankfully Clair, the beta female, was able to keep her calm.

“Yep but apparently she that trip wasn’t enough and we need to pick up a few things.” Sarah said as she sat down on her bed.

Looking over at the three of them, Narissa couldn’t believe how big they had gotten. Pete and Charles were a good foot taller than her and even Sarah was a bit taller than her. It was strange seeing them so grown up and for the first time, Narissa was starting to see them as young adults rather than children.
