"Florida?" I said shooting up from where I was sitting.

"Why the surprise?" my mom asked. "We talked about living close to the beach and Florida is perfect."

"Girl yes! At least I think so.." Alina responded.

"What's wrong with the idea Jenna?" mom asked.

"Nothing. Were just in Galveston and---"

"And it'll be a road trip to our permanent destination." she said cutting me off. "Yes, I understand that it is a long drive, but if that's something we want that's what were going to do."

"Agreed. and Jenna, were going to end up going to college and I'm sure Florida has something for the both of us." Alina stated.

"College. Wow, I wasn't even thinking of that detail." Mom admitted.

"That'll be a talk for another time. I guess Florida sounds nice for the three of us." I admitted thinking of all the things id do there.

"If needed, we'll talk more about it. but for now, its 8 and were at the beach. lets go walking along the shore." Mom said grabbing her shoes.

Alina got up and got her shoes on and walked out the door while I followed. We were back into the hotels hallway until we made a stop to walk into the elevator.

"I hate these devil things." Alina said grabbing my arm.

"Elevators? you love hotels but you cant get over the elevators?" I asked.

"Yeah. they make me...claustrophobic." she said as we got in and her grip grasping tighter around my arm.

The elevator was covered in mirror. Looking up, you'd see your reflection looking back down at you. The floor of the elevator was in black tile, and had specks of silver in it. I felt Alina's grip begin to weaken as if she started to become more relaxed. Then, the elevator came at a stop. "7th floor." the operator said. it seemed that instead of going down to the first floor, someone called before us. Three boys, looking a little older than Alina and I stepped in and completely ignored us. They continued talking the loudest they could and fist bumping each other. Once they finally simmered down, it got extremely awkward. Then, one started to make conversation.

"You know, we should go to the beach." one of the boys stated.

"Do you know where is a good spot to walk on the beach?" the other boy said turning around now talking to me.

"No we don't. Were looking for a good spot ourselves." my mom said cutting me off.

"Oh okay then." the first one said as they huddled back into their little group.

The door of the elevator opened and we all poured out. By this time Alina's grip on me was so light I didn't even notice she was holding on. The group of boys started to talk loud again and walk out while Mom, Alina, and I walked to the front desk. We were greeted by a quirky, brunette lady who didn't know how to stop smiling.

"Hello! What can I do for you ladies?" she said in a high tone. Her voice was one not to forget.

"We were just wondering what's the best way to walk on the beach tonight?" Mom said conducting the conversation.

"Walk the beach? At this hour?" she stated. "Ahh-hahahaha." she started to laugh and the noice was more horrifying than her voice. Her laugh was a horrible piercing in your ears.

"John." she said turning around.

"Mmm yes?" a man stated with a snobby attitude.

"I have three ladies that want to go walking at the beach." she said holding in her giggles.

He met up with her eyes and they both started to laugh. Alina turned towards me and stated:
"Put them out of their misery."

"Look." The gentlemen said approaching the counter. "Three lovely ladies like yourself don't want to be at the beach At this hour."

"Why exactly not?" mom asked.

"It's not very safe to walk the beach At night. Things can happen." the brunette lady said this time.

"I suggest you go grab a bite and go through some stores. But the beach? No no no." The gentlemen said waving his finger around.

While the gentlemen was lecturing us about what we could and couldn't do, I took time and admired him. He was a tall, lean man with dark, almost black hair. Eyebrows lighter than his hair, green eyes and chisel features, it was no questioning why the quirky brunette was so fond of him.

"Thank you." I heard my mom say as we began to walk away.

"So, what are we going to do?" Alina stated.

I turned my head and looked over at the front desk. John and the brunette were whispering back and forth and making eye contact with us every once in awhile. They finally turned, went into an office, and before closing the door, they shot one more look at us.

"Call it a night?" I said jumping back into the conversation.

"And do what?" Alina said?

"Watch tv, pop popcorn, brew some coffee or hot coco, sit in the balcony, listen to the ocean. I don't know well find something to do." I said waving my hands around.

"Sounds nice I suppose." Mom agreed.

"Whatever. Lets go" Alina said walking back to the elevator.

We walked into an elevator that was already waiting for us and Alina grabbed my arm again. As the door closed behind us we started going up.

"Wait." My mom started.

We looked at her with eyes and ears curious of what she was going to say next.

"If were not aloud to go to the beach, then why did those three boys go?" she said wafting her hair.

"huh..thats a good question." Alina stated.

"It was a big deal for us to go, why wasn't it for them?" I asked.

"Maybe because they went at their own risk and didn't ask the front desk for opinions." Alina said nudging my mom.

"Oh shut up. Its not my fault now." she said rolling her eyes and stepped to the front as the elevator doors opened.

We walked to through the hallway until we got at our door.

"Lets just end this night by unwinding and relaxing. Yeah?" She said opening the door and letting us in.

"Wonder where you got that idea from." I whispered to her and shut the door behind us.
