twelve- reconnected

Lilac's pov

"Alright guys, we have a bit of something special we're putting on just for you tonight!" Ashton shouted into his mic.

"You all know Lilac Emerson! Here she is with our cover of Terrible Things!"

I ran onto the stage in my shredded jeans and a crop top, my blue electric hung around me on its strap.

I went to where they had put out an extra mic for me, "Thanks for having me, assholes." I laughed, "Now before we start I just wanted to say something, you're allowed to be sad when we play this song, but you need to promise that as soon as it's done you'll be happy, because we want you to be as happy as we are right now."

"Do you promise?!" Calum shouted into the mic, the whole arena blared a collective scream in response.

I waited while Luke and Calum sang until it was my turn to join in, "I know I shouldn't say this but I really believe, I cant tell by your eyes that you're in love with me!"

It continued like this, me joining in on the verses I was assigned, "Too young to notice, and too dumb to care! Love was a story that couldn't compare!"

All of the little words that we had grown close to since Mayday Parade wrote this song were leading up to the point where I would sing the verse I wrote.

"Boy can I tell you a terrible thing, it seems that he's sick and I'm close to leaving, please don't be sad now I really believe you are the greatest thing that ever happened to me!"

I quickly took off my guitar and brought my mic with me as I walked down the aisle of the stage. I dropped to my knees in the heat of the moment and let my lungs carry out their lines, "Slow! So slow! I fell to the ground, on my knees!"

My legs were shaking with the impact of my knees colliding with the ground, but I couldn't bring myself to care. I had a few tears streaming down my face and all I could focus on were the lights of people's cameras and phones in the audience.

It was time for Luke to join me on the aisle, "SO DON'T FALL IN LOVE THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH TO LOSE. IF YOU'RE GIVEN THE CHOICE THEN I'M BEGGING YOU CHOOSE TO WALK AWAY. WALK AWAY. DON'T LET HER GET YOU. I CANT BEAR TO SEE THE SAME HAPPEN TO YOU! NOW SON, I'M ONLY TELLING YOUTHIS BECAUSE LIFE CAN DO TERRIBLE THINGS."

The crowd went insane with cheering, Luke helped me up and I limped slightly until we were all back on the main part of the stage, "We don't want you guys to be sad anymore." Luke said with heavy breathing into his mic. "We're all okay."

Luke's pov

"Holy shit! Sorry guys!" Michael shouted and ran back into the living room.

"Why are you always the one to walk in on people?" Lilac laughs.

"Well I didn't think they would use our set as a place to fuck." Michael said.

"Technically our set is still your bedroom, and  it's not our set anymore, we're working on Lilac's video for the rest of the week."

"What's your idea for that anyway? Calum said you had an idea for it..." Michael asked, sitting down on the couch beside us.

"I was thinking it would just be me walking down a road at night, singing until it ends, I couldn't really come up with anything else. You got ideas?" She asked.

"That sounds good to me, you could even do it in three different takes so there's one in the morning, one mid-day, and the other one at night."

She almost squealed with excitement, "YOU"RE A GENIUS! THANK YOU CAL!"

He smiled to himself, it's the first time she's called him "Cal" in forever. This made me realize that there's so many more milestones for them to go through together now that their friendship has been restored. They would always be looking at each other when another thing happens for the "first time in forever" It made me so happy that they finally have this back.

In all honestly, I thought I would get jealous of my not-girlfriend being all over my friend, but I know it would never be in that way. Lilac and I love each other, and even if we're afraid to say it right now that doesn't make it a false statement.

I could never be jealous of two people I love regaining their friendship.

"Does it worry you that Calum knows? I'm sorry I told him..."

Lilac smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek, "You don't need to be sorry. I don't think he'll tell Ash, let alone Michael and Stephanie, I think they all expect us to get back together anyway."

"Sometimes I forget that we're not together yet, what're we going to do about that?" I ask.

"I have a few ideas." She laughed quietly.

"I love you Lilac." When she hesitated before deciding to stay silent I pouted, "Say it back?"

"You know how I feel about you babe, I just- I don't know if I can."

I knew what she meant, she wasn't trying to be rude or let me down, it just felt so surreal to say it again after all this time. We've generally said that we still love each other but this was the first time either of us had said it directly to the other, it was yet another milestone.

She looked down at her hands then back up to stare into my eyes, "I feel that way about you too Luke, I promise."

I let out a bit of a sigh and held her even closer, if that was possible. I hadn't expected her to actually say it, but giving me that reassurance was all I needed to make my night one hundred percent perfect. We slowly fell asleep in the guest room without the fear of anyone walking in and figuring out our secret, we didn't fear love, or our fans' reactions, we just lay there.

I just won the world record for shortest, half-assed, lame chapter!
