Jason's P.O.V

I couldn't get her out of my head. That smile, that laugh, that heart. She was seemingly perfect, but something told me that her past wasn't. There was something about her that said life hasn't been easy. Under her beautiful eyes, there was hurt and pain. Maybe someday we could share our lives with each other, but I had only just met her. After our date, I dreamt about her. Yeah, yeah, it's cheesy, but I was just so obsessed. I woke up to my screaming alarm and realized I had to get up. I looked down at myself and said suddenly, "OH, SHIT!" Realizing the tent underneath my sheet caused by my manhood. I guess all that dreaming did something to me. I got up and took a cold shower, in hopes that my hard-on would subside. After I had gotten dressed, I got all my stuff together and ran downstairs to get something to eat. I was met by my mom crying in the living room.

"Mom?" I said as she lifted her head, realizing my presence.

"Oh, Jason. I-I didn't hear you coming down the stairs." She said, her voice shaking.

"Mom, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

"It's nothing. We're just a little tight on money this month and-" She started speaking, but I cut her off.

"Don't worry about it. I applied for a job already at the gym as a part-time maintenance man. They'll get back to me today." I told her, trying to comfort her.

"Thank you, baby. I know having a job isn't what you want right now, but it's just until I can get a good job."

Having just moved here, all my mom could do was work here and there until she found something permanent. She always struggled to make ends meet but moving here made things especially hard. With all that was going on back home, we didn't have much of a choice. I started thinking about all the sh*t we've had to go through and all the times I caught my mother crying over it. I just wanted us to have a better life. I wanted to start over. I grabbed something quick to eat and proceeded to school.

"Hey, new kid!" Someone yelled to me as I walked through the hallway. I looked over to see a group of guys huddled together. I walked over to them slowly.

"Hey, what's up man?" One of them asked me as he extended his hand. I shook it warily.

"Um, nothin' much, man. You?"

"Checking out some hotties!" One of the guys said as the others chuckled at his remark.

"Nice," I said with a smirk. "Got your eye on somethin'? I asked.

"See the cutie over there?" He motioned to Kris, and I immediately felt a twinge of jealousy. "She's got one hell of a body. The things I'd like to do, man. Can you believe she's a virgin? Or at least, that's what she says. To be real, she's probably just a slut sucking everything in sight!" He laughed as one of his friends high-fived him. The way he was talking about Kris made me mad.

"Aye, she's not like that." I quickly rebutted.

One of the guys whistled before saying, "Ooh someone's found a fuck buddy!" I was ready to f*ck him up, but I knew that would just cause trouble for my mom. I held back.

"Nah, bro. We hung out a little. She's cool and stuff, but I don't see her as a whore." I said, trying to keep my cool.

"Dude, be careful. I heard that she fucked some dude then cried rape. The guy got charged and everything! She was probably just trying to hide how much of a little bimbo she really is!" The guys burst out laughing; I could feel the anger rising in me.

"With that little ass of hers that she's always shaking, I bet she's screwed every guy here. I can just imagine her bouncing up and down my di-" I immediately punched the guy who was talking. He fell back, but his buddies caught him.

"Whoah! What's your problem? Jealous? Want her little c*nt all to yourself?" I punched that guy too, and before I knew it, a full on fight broke out. Eventually, students were gathered around, but then Krista came over and stepped in front of me, putting a hand on my chest.

"Jason, stop!" She screamed at me as I was still breathing hard. By the time some of the kids were putting their hands on my shoulders, attempting to stop me from taking another swing. I shrugged them off and started walking away, fists clenched. I heard footsteps following me. "Jason!" I kept walking. "Jason!" The voice called out again. I spun around to see a worried expression on Kris' face.

"Where'd that come from?" She questioned.

"They were being pricks. I wasn't in the mood for their bullshit." Kris put a hand on my shoulder, looking into my eyes.

"What's going on?" She questioned. I felt like she could see right through me. It was like she knew exactly what I was thinking. I explained about my mom and how she was having a rough time. It wasn't just money. Over the past years, she had boyfriends come and go. Olivia, Jamie and I all had different dads, never really knowing them. My mom had a bumpy past filled with abusive ex-boyfriends, dead-end jobs, stupid bosses, and multiple stepfathers who used her. Sometimes, she just couldn't take the burden of her own memories and just broke down. I tried my best to give Kris a summarization of what my mom was going through, without shedding too much detail. I didn't know Kris that well yet, and I certainly didn't want to scare her off.

She attempted to comfort me before class started. We headed to English, and I waited as the day went slow. The classes were boring, and I was relieved when the final bell rang. I wanted to stay and watch Kris practice, but I needed to get home to my mom. I also needed some time to cool off from the fight. My blood was still hot, and I was worried I would say or do something I didn't mean if I hung out with Kris.
