Zinc crouched down in front of them and sighed.
"This aint gonna work, sweetheart." He growled. "We're tougher than you think."
'You just need a window, right?' she asked.
I nodded and she grinned. Her blue eyes sparkling behind her freckled cheeks. 'Might take less time than I thought.'
"Goliath!" She called. "Come here boy."
Goliath trotted up to her and she patted his head.
"Sit." She ordered. Goliath sat down beside her and looked at the bandits.
A low growl came from him snout before Zinc rubbed his back.
"Patience." She told him.
"Get that thing away from us." One ordered.
"Why?" she asked.
"It's evil." the other answered.
"Only when I say he can be." I told them.
"What's your name?" Zinc asked.
"Don't answer. She'll turn us in."
"You're brothers?" I asked. I caught a glimpse of their thoughts as fear ran across their faces.
"Shit." He hissed.
"Just tell us your names and we will let you go." She lies. Her whole body told me that was a lie.
The brothers exchanged glances before looking back at Zinc.
"Adam." the older one muttered. "That's Tyler."
"What's your deal?" she asked.
"We were sent to capture two trespassers."
"Boy did that backfire." Tyler sighed.
"Why?" I asked.
"A reader and a Hemway? Doesn't that sound valuable to you?"
"I don't get it. What do I have to do with anything?" Zinc asked, puzzled.
"You don't know, do you?" asked Adam.
"What?" she asked.
Even I was confused.
"You don't know what you are?"
"What are you talking about?" She screamed. She was growing impatient. Even I could see that.
"Their traitors!"
"What?" she asked, turning her attention to me.
"They betrayed their pack. They're runaways." I told her. "And they know where Amy is."
Her eyes widened and she pulled Adam by the collar of his shirt.
"Where?" she hissed.
"Not telling." He spat.
"They won't tell you. But they'll show us." I told her.
She pushed Adam down and paced toward me.
"You two are coming with us." boomed Adam's voice.
"Not going to happen."
I turned around to see that they had cut the rope we had tied them with and in a rush Adam had Zinc in a choke hold.
"You know. It would be so much easier on your girlfriend here if you Just came with us."
'Don't you dare, Alex!' Zinc thought to me. Her voice rang in my ears as I closed my eyes to think.
Zinc screamed causing my eyes to flick open to see Adam gripping her arm behind her back and his knife to her throat.
He'll kill her if I don't do what he says.
I had no choice.
