Chapter 2

Adeline's POV

2 years earlier

I looked at Steve sleeping soundly once more before placing my note on his nightstand and shutting the door of his bedroom softly. I lugged my duffel bag over my shoulder with all my belongings and walked out the front door and down the stairs of the apartment complex to catch a cab far away from here. Where exactly? I wasn't sure of that yet but I needed answers and I needed to find out where to get them.

The next thing I knew I was on a flight to Atlanta for a connecting flight through Shield to one of our secret command center's called The Hub. Once in the air I convinced the man beside me to let me use his laptop and by convinced I meant using my mind control. I grabbed the hard drive Phil had given me and plugged it into the computer pulling up my medical records again hoping maybe they had changed since I last looked but they hadn't.

Ms. Taylor was recovered from the Hydra Base of Austria in 1991 and held in Shield captivity from 1991-2007. Documents from the Hydra Base of Austria states that Ms. Taylor had been held captive since 1985 for what reasons are not stated. The documents were signed by Daniel Whitewall and Arnim Zola. Dr. Zola has been mentioned in reports from Steven Grant's (Captain America) file as creating weapons for the tesseract in 1942. While in Shield captivity Ms. Taylor and her mental state from the base was given Drug 38-AEW and was under from 1991-2007. Through tests Shield scientists found Ms. Taylor's ability of technopathy that she had since birth. After captivity in Austria and given tests unknown to Shield, Ms. Taylor acquired the power to fly and was noted to appear the same age all 16 years in Shield captivity. In 2007 Ms. Taylor was given Drug 672-WOA and given an altered memory and was put in the Shield Abilities Program. While in SAP Ms. Taylor acquired the power of mind control and became a technology expert for Shield.

The rest was from the past few years at Shield and the missions I had been on. My entire past had been a lie I had never been to the orphanage when I was younger or anything that I thought had been my life wasn't true. I was born in 1964 which meant I was actually meant to be 48 years old but as they stated I didn't age. I guess just another ability to add to my list. I wondered how many people knew my past it seemed that Director Fury and Agent Coulson were secretive when they gave me the hard drive so maybe not to many. But the one thing I wanted answers to was what had happened to me in Austria and my past before that. So I guess that's where I was going to start. I looked up the drugs they used on me in the Shield files that I had used my technopathy to get into through the borrowed laptop.

Drug 38-AEW: A sedative for a long period of time given to the patient through veins and attached through and IV for as long as the sedative is needed.

So they had put me under for 16 years while they decided what to do with me. Next I looked up Drug 672-WOA.

Drug 672-WOA: a drug given to a patient to help alter their mind using manipulation of the choosing with brain sedatives.

And that's how they changed my memory. I sighed leaning my head back, this was so much to take in at once but at least I had a start.
