7:00 AM, Seatlle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle, WA.
Maine woke up with a slight headache but she still managed to smile at George, the food delivery boy.
"Good Morning, G! Thanks for this wonderful meal!" Maine said with so much enthusiasm.
"Good Morning, M! Make sure you eat them within the next 30 minutes okay?" George responded.
As Maine closes her door she whispered while look at her not-so-yummy breakfast, "This is going to be a long day."
10:00 AM
Alas-diyes palang ng umaga, bored na agad si Maine. Pero sa totoo lang, ganito na talaga ang buhay nya dito sa research center... magli-limang taon na. So, she decided to roam around the floor para narin kamustahin kanyang mga kaibigan.
"Hi Maine! Ang aga nating gumala ah!" Patricia Tumulak, the resident nurse in the center (and fellow Pinay) greeted Maine.
"Hi Madam! Eh alam mo na... nagkakaubusan ng magagawa eh. O, Kamusta? Anong bagong chismis?"
"Maka-madam naman! O eh ayun, nako teh, si Lolo sa room 8513 kinuha na ni Lord. Andun yung family ngayon kaya wag kang gumawi muna don, lakas ng sad vibes." sagot ni Patty while checking the patients' records.
"Ay talaga ba? grabe, sabagay baka kasi hirap na rin si Lolo. Baka oras na nya talaga. Kakakausap ko palang dun nung isang araw eh." sagot ni Maine na medyo nalungkot.
"Kaya nga eh... ay wait! teka, eto may chika pala ako. May darating na bagong patient galing Pinas! Balita ko artista raw sya dun, so asahan mo na. Pogi ito!"
"Luh luh luh! Anong levels ba yan Pat, John Lloyd Cruz or Vic Sotto? Baka naman lolo na pala yan ha! Sabi ko na e, you have a thing for older guys!" Maine joked.
"Baliw ka talaga Nicomaine! Ewan ko sayo. Eh hindi, ang pangalan kasi dito tunay na pangalan at hindi screen name so hindi ko rin malalaman. Pero ang name nya..." Patty paused as she look at her computer.
"... Richard Faulkerson Jr."
"Ay wow, yamanin ang name! The Who naman ito? bakit hindi familiar?" Maine asked. "Uy akin nalang 'tong Twix mo ha. Thanks!" she didn't even wait for Patty's respond and immediately opened the chocolate bar.
"Hindi mo man lang inantay yung sagot ko kung okay lang diba? Paano pala kung hindi pa ako kumakain? Hay nako ka talaga! O eh anyway, basta ang balita sa 7th floor, bagets pa raw eh. Mukhang nasa age bracket mo nga. Basta after lunch ang dating dito, so may oras ka pa mag-ayos."
"Grabe? kailangan talagang mag-ayos? Anong mali sa suot ko?" Maine asked sabay ikot ng 360 degrees, minomodel ang kanyang hospital gown.
"Sawa ka na ba? Ayaw nyo pa kasing palitan ng color! Hindi bagay sakin 'to eh." sabi ni Maine habang pinapagpag ang bandang baba ng kanyang light green na hospital gown.
"Alam mo ikaw, puro ka kalokohan! Ewan ko sayo, basta daanan kita sa room mo mamaya pag dumating na. Dun ka na muna tumambay, mag internet ka muna at mag-research kung sino itong Richard Faulkerson na ito. Balik muna ako sa trabaho ko, kelangan ko pa rumonda sa 12th. Yung gamot mo ha! Papadala ko don, don't forget."
Maine smiled and nodded. "I'm sure magbbreakfast lang kayo ni Sam at ayaw mo ako isama sa cafeteria." she laughed while Patty attempted to pinch her.
"Huy wag! baka magpasa! Joke lang eh. Okay, Nurse! bisitahin mo nalang ang iyong pasyente mamaya. Beauty rest muna ako."
Patty also laughed and hugged her patient then went straight to the elevator, while Maine was left in the Nurse station.
"Paano Meng, balik kulungan ka muna hanggang lunch! Mamaya may bago ka ng kukulitin bilang namaalam na si Lolo." Maine thought and went to her room.
As she closes her door she silently said, "O diba, mahal parin ako ni Lord eh. Iniwan ako ni Lolo pero may ipinalit din sya agad." then smiled.
After having lunch and watching an episode of Spongebob Squarepants, she went to her desk and opened her Macbook.
"So... sino ka nga ba, Richard Faulkerson Jr.?" she whispered while typing his name in the Google search bar, but, as she was about to hit Enter, someone knocked in her door.
It was Patty.
"Maine, he's here. Tara?"
