Home Again

McKenzie's pov

As my dad pulled up in the driveway of our old house, memories came flooding back into my head. The house was still here which shocked me.

"Home sweet home." My dad mumbled.
The moving van had been right behind us so they pulled up and started unloading our belongings.
I walked in and seen that nothing had changed in the past 8 years.

I kept the same room as I had when I was a kid and by the time the movers left it was 8:30 p.m
My dad and I cooked some hamburger helper for dinner and sat around doing nothing. At about 10 I was tired so I decided to hit the hay.

"Goodnight dad!" I yelled as I ran up the steps.

"Night pal!''

As I played in bed I thought about everything that went wrong and everything that I was going to have to change. My eyelids soon got heavy and I drifted off to sleep.

~Next Day~

I woke up for the first time without screaming. The sun was shining through my windows and it was pretty outside so I decided to go out. I got up did my morning routine and put some makeup on and put my hair in a messy bun. I picked out a light blue crop top and a pair of high waisted jeans with some black vans. As I headed down to the kitchen there was a note left from my dad explaining that he had to go on a business trip as usual and how he wouldn't be back for a few weeks. Basically I was left in our new/old house not knowing our neighbors and not knowing if everything was different than before.
As i got out a fudge pop tart for breakfast, the doorbell rang.

" Hold on!" I called as I raced to the door.
When I opened it there was a boy with brown hair and icy blue eyes that reminded me of my old best friend Hayes Grier.

"Uh hi sorry to bother you but I seen that you moved in yesterday and well I wanted to say welcome to my- our neighborhood. My name is Hayes." The boy said.

Flashbacks went through my head as I remembered those eyes and the sound of his voice.

"Well this isn't the first time I have been here. Actually I lived here 8 years ago then i had to move away."

Hayes squinted at me and the thought of me went through his head as he smiled. He hugged me which took me by surprise but I hugged back.

"McKenzie I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!!"

"I MISSED YOU TOO!" I laughed.

"Can I come in?"

I stood back and gestured for him to come in. Hayes and I sat and caught up which took about 5 hours to be honest and then he had to leave.

"I am so glad you're back Kenzie" he said smiling.

I returned the smile and said "Me too."

After that we said our goodbyes.

"Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" He asked. Si of course I said yes.
Later that night, let's say I went to bed with a huge smile on my face.
