chapter 47

I yawned and jumped out of bed and looked at the clock it was 12:30. I quickly put my clothes on and ran out of my room to the kitchen where shinohara was sitting and reading a book. he glanced up at me and smiled "morning juzo."

I looked at him confused "why didn't you wake me up for work? why aren't you at work?"

he sipped his coffee and shook his head "you cant go to work, you broke your knuckles and the doctor also said he wants you to relax. your burns need to heal not to mention your throat. doesn't that hurt juuzou? you have a huge bruise."

I felt my throat feeling a small stinging pain. I had noticed when I swallowed that my throat kind of hurt but I ignored it. I smiled at shinohara "yay no work!"

shinohara smiled as well and then handed me a slip of paper. I looked down at it and read the words "TOKYO WORLD FAIR GROUND! OVER 100 RIDES!"

shinohara stood up "we're going there today. I thought it would be a fun day off." he smiled.

I stared blankly at him and then looked back at the paper "I-ive never gone to a fair......" I suddenly felt sad "ryu told me she would take me to the fair one day....." I set the paper down and smiled up at shinohara "lets go! I bet they have lots of food there!"

he sighed then smiled too "go grab a coat. its cold out."

I ran and grabbed my black jacket then followed shinohara to the car.

the car ride was long but we finally made it. I stared up in amazement at the huge colorful rides. they stretched far into the sky and spun around, bounced, flew, everything you could possibly imagine. it took me awhile to realize I was just standing there staring up in amazement with my mouth open. a grin spread across my face "this is so great shinohara! ive never seen all these colors together like this before! its so pretty!"

he put his hand on my head and laughed "well don't just look at it. come on! lets get on one!"

he walked forward and I ran up to him then grabbed onto his hand. he slightly smiled and led me to a large circle ride. he looked down at me "this is a Ferris wheel."

I smiled at the large glowing wheel and slowly steeped into the little bowl. there was a bench inside. shinohara sat across from me. I stared at him wondering what was going to happen then the wheel suddenly moved. I fell onto the bench and laughed, shinohara did too. I sat close to the edge looking out in amazement. the whole fair looked so beautiful. all the people walking and smiling, the bright lights and colors. it was like watching them from.... heaven. a large smile was on my face and for the first time in awhile it wasn't forced.

the ferris wheel stopped moving when we were at the top. the bowl shook and I slid again. I sat up and looked at shinohara. he was smiling too. then suddenly I lost the smile. it felt so nice when it lasted but I knew if shinohara became any more connected to me I would only hurt him again. hes not my dad, I need to stop pretending im part of a family.

shinohara frowned "whats wrong juuzou?"

I couldn't stop it, tears started rolling down my cheeks and I leapt at shinohara wrapping my arms around him and crying into his shoulder. he put his arms around me and hugged me tightly. I cried out, "im sorry! im sorry for being a bad person! im sorry for being a disappointment! im sorry I made you sad! I don't want to be bad! I don't want to kill people! I don't want to be lonely anymore!"

he hugged me tighter "juzo your not a bad person and your not a disappointment. you don't have to be alone, im right here. im your family."

the word family hit my heart hard and I let go of him and sat back on the other side looking down. then I looked up at him and smiled "yeah! we will always be a family! I will always have you! promise to never leave me alone shinohara."

he smiled too "I promise...."

I looked out at the view again "I love this feeling. I like being in the air, I think ill go to high places more often." I stood up and leaned over the edge to see directly below.

shinohara grabbed my legs before I fell and pulled me back into the bowl. he sighed and then smiled "what am I going to do with you juuzou?"

I grinned, then the bowl started to lower back down to the ground.
