Jude was staring at his reflection in his bedroom mirror. He felt so nervous. He couldn't believe he had even agreed to this. He didn't feel emotionally ready for a night like this. But he knew there was no turning back.

"How does this look?" Jude asked still staring in the mirror. Taylor stood up from the bed and he turned around to show her more. "Well?"

"You look fine."

"Just fine?" Jude asked feeling panicky. "Taylor I can't just look fine..."

"Last weekend you and Connor went to the movies" Taylor shrugged. "And you wore your Superman pajamas with flipflops."

"Well this is different, Tay" Jude replied. "I am having dinner with Connor and the father from hell."

"I'm sure Connor's Dad isn't that bad" Taylor replied chuckling. "I mean he's fine with Connor being gay. Right?"

"But he's a huge Ronnie fan" Jude sounded annoyed. But Taylor didn't take it personal. "And I'm the one who stole Connor from Ronnie. God I fucking hate Ronnie."

"Ronnie didn't do anything wrong" Taylor didn't mean to snap so harshly at her friend. But that's how it came out. "And he's actually not that bad. He's pretty cool."

"How would you know?"

"We hung out" Taylor shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. "And I realized he's not that bad."

"You hung out with that idiot?" Jude asked feeling betrayed. "What the hell could you two have in common? All I can think of is being interested in the same sex."

"He likes StoneFoe" Taylor said. StoneFoe was a local heavy medal band Taylor was just addicted too. "Which actually suprised me. Look I only did reach out to him was because I thought he was going to go off and get revenge or something. Then I realized he's just way too nice for that. So I realized he's a pretty cool kid."

"This is his revenge" Jude shook his head. "I stole his boyfriend now he's stealing my best friend."

"No he's not" Taylor replied. "Just because I'm his friend now doesn't mean your not my best friend. He really needs a friend. But just know no one can come between us. Okay?"

Jude nodded calming down a bit.

A few hours later Jude was sitting in the passenger seat of Connor's truck. He looked to see Connor focused on the road.

"Did you know Ronnie listens to StoneFoe?"

"Ew" Connor groaned making a disgusted face. "Don't remind me. I swear almost everyday when I'd drive him home from school he'd pop a cd in and it's the worst music I've ever heard. I mean that's not even singing. It's screaming."

Jude nodded. He wasn't a huge fan of StoneFoe but he thought their music was okay.

Jude just sat there quietly until they arrived at the Stevens household. They walked inside to see Adam on the couch reading the newspaper.

"Hey Dad."

"Connor" Adam smiled before looking back into his paper. ".... and Jude."

"I am going to change real quick" Connor told Jude. "You stay here."

Connor kissed Jude and rushed up stairs. Jude sat down in the chair staring over at Adam who was deep in the newspaper probably pretending Jude wasn't there.

"Um thank you for inviting me Mr. Stevens."

"Well it meant a lot to Connor" Adam replied coldly. "I may not agree with a lot of his decisions but I have to respect them because their his to make."

"Do you mean decisions?" Jude asked curiously. "Or do you mean mistakes? Do you think Connor made a mistake leaving Ronnie for me?"

"Jude we don't have to do this."

"Yes we do" Jude replied. "I think it's time to clear the air."

Adam nodded and folded up his newspaper. He sat his newspaper down and stared right at Jude.

"To answer your question yes" Adam told Jude. "But not because I dislike you or don't care but because his relationship with Ronnie was a lot healthier than what he had and will have with you."

"So I'm a bad influence?"

"Not exactly" Adam said sincerely. "It's just you and Connor together it's toxic. Him and Ronnie felt so pure to me. And Ronnie was the reason I finally came around and accepted Connor because I seen how happy they we're. But you know it's not my place to tell Connor who's right for him. Maybe you are but maybe your not."

Jude nodded.

"And for whatever it's worth I'm sorry" Adam said. "For being so hard to deal with back then."

Adam walked off into the kicthen. Jude was there alone. He couldn't believe Adam had been okay with Connor and Ronnie but never was okay with him and Connor.  Jude had wished that Adam had been okay with him and Connor then because then Ronnie wouldn't have dated Connor and got hurt. Maybe he would have been friends with Ronnie instead of hating him.

"Hey" Connor said returning. "You okay? Did my Dad say anything? Because he still considers Ronnie a part of the family. He just has to get use to you."

"He didn't say anything" Jude smiled. "I just love you."

"I love you too."

They share a soft kiss and smile at each other.

"Boys! Time to eat!"

"Dad! You cockblock!"

They could hear Adam laughing from the kicthen. They entered the kicthen and sat down.

"So how was work?" Connor asked Adam interested. "Did Maggie bat her eyes at you?"

"That woman" Adam laughed. "She's half my age and trying to seduce me."

Connor laughed.

Jude couldn't help the smile forming on his face. He couldn't believe how good of a relationship Connor had with his Dad now. It was sweet.

Jude knew everything with him and Connor would be okay. He felt positive that someday Adam would care for him like he did for Ronnie.

He just needed time. And it would be okay.
