We're nothing more than flowers, drooping, slowly dying flowers, that eventually fall to the ground. A person's form resembles a flower. Ever since that day I guess you could say my petals fell when I did. When I saw them leave every bit of myself just fell apart and died.
This isn't your usual boring fairytale about two people meeting and falling in love with each other. If anything this is far from that and possibly more tragic than Romeo and Juliet's twisted tale of fate. Now onto the main story, can't let myself spoil this tale too much now can I?
Ivalice University, the grand school home to thousands of students focusing on their futures and fates, studying day in and day out. It's nothing more than your usual setting in any other teenage drama to be frank. I'm your not so typical student. When you first look at me you'll think "Sheesh what's wrong with him?" just by the way I look, long hair and an attire containing mostly black, hm not so impressive on young ladies' parents if I dare say. On an outside point of view some would be envious of my "bad boy style" and my carefree attitude towards events around me, kind of attractive hm?
I pondered some lingering thoughts in the back of my mind for the past few days at my window-side desk. There was a new girl, she appealed to me. It was definitely not her appearance but something else. I couldn't find out what something else was. The bell rang, ending the school day. I gathered my belongings and frantically met with the new girl.
"Oh!" She turned around surprised by the tap on her shoulder."I'm sorry to bother to you..." I apologized. "I've noticed you're very quiet and kept to yourself, possibly because you're still new?"
The color faded from her face. "Umm.. That's part of it..."
I tilted my head as a questioning gesture.
"I'm kindly scared of people. People around me.. Their actions, it fears me..." She bit her lip to prevent herself from crying. "I'm sorry..." She covered her face with her baggy sweater sleeves.I wrapped my arms around her in an effort to comfort her. At the moment I didn't think of the consequences of a desperate attempt at kindness and how it would turn around to stab me in the back. I understood this girl who stood nervously and shaken before my being. I understood that I just met her, but I felt like I've known her for years. I wanted to let her know I understood her feelings, despite my appearance.
" I'm sorry I never did introduce myself... I'm Lucis." I looked down at her as she backed away slowly when she stopped crying.
She wiped her face one last time. "I'm Vanille, and I'm so sorry about what just-"
" Don't apologize," I cut off her sentence. "It's not your fault so don't feel guilty about it. I knew there was something more to you. I understand your lonely strange feelings towards people." I glanced at my reflection looking disappointed back at myself in the window. "Take an oddball like me Miss Vanille, do you honestly believe I feel like I fit in to even this chaotic school life?"
She looked even more shocked by my sharp words that stagnated the classroom air. "I'm comforted that the first person to approach me here was you Lucis. Thank you." Her face flushed lightly pink. "W-would you like to join me at the bookstore today? It would make me feel better if someone like you was there with me by my side."
I laughed a little at her cute attempt. "I would be delighted to join you Vanille. Here let me carry those for you!" I replied as I went to pick up her heavy load of school books. Hesitant at first she finally allowed me to carry them.We then began the short mile at most walk to the lavish bookstore, with holding the largest collection of books in the country. Vanille still felt a little uneasy around me, but it's only expected since we just met. I could tell though that I was gaining her trust more and more with every step we took. "H-here we are Lucis..."
