Envy sauntered into view.
"Well, well, well... Morpheus and brat."
"Cousin." Nightmare's voice dripped with scorn. "You're as short as ever."
At 5' 4", Nightmare towered over Envy, who was 4' 11".
Envy pulled two one-handed straight swords with no quillons and leather handgrips out of thin air and pointed them at Nightmare.
"Brother?" Nightmare held out her hands.
Morpheus coughed a few times and created two swords, better than the swords Envy held. The swords Morpheus made had the same shape, but they had quillons in the shape of ravens.
Nightmare grinned, displaying her shark teeth.
What followed was an incredibly one-sided sword fight.
Envy was much stronger than Nightmare, and also insane. As such, she attacked without regard for her own skin. Even though she was shorter, her ferocity drove Nightmare against the wall of the hallway. Nightmare managed to block each slash of Envy's blades, but that was all. Envy managed to break one of the quillons off of one of the swords. It fell to the floor and disintegrated into white smoke.
Morpheus had stayed out of it up to that point, because it was his sister's fight, but if Envy drew any blood, the whole thing would end with another corpse on the floor.
He grabbed Envy's twin spiky ponytails and yanked her up so her feet were dangling. She tried to swivel to stab him, but he held her at arm's length.
Nightmare unplastered herself from the wall.
"Drop the swords."
"Yes, Morpheus." Envy smiled. The swords became oozy green slime on the floor.
Morpheus dropped her. She rolled, and manifested a broadsword and went to cleave him in half.
"Shit!" He jumped backwards, feet landing in the slime, and fell on his butt.
Envy closed in, taking a step forward. Nightmare then stabbed Envy from behind.
"Hurk." Envy gasped, shook her head, smiled. "That hit a lung." She smiled again, and this time thicker green slime bubbled out of the spaces between her teeth. It dripped down the sword Nightmare was holding, corroding and dissolving it. Nightmare moved her hands, and this slime fell to the floor, where it hissed and burbled as it ate a hole in the linoleum.
"I... need to lie down for a bit." Envy glanced at the hole in the floor. "Or maybe longer."
She staggered into Morpheus, who was picking himself up off of the floor.
"Care to-to carry me, cousin?"
Some of the slime got onto his trenchcoat, which began to crumble.
Morpheus wordlessly pulled off his coat and wrapped it around Envy, and then carefully lifted her in both arms.
"Mare, can you deal with the corpse here or something?" He called behind him, as he advanced down the hallway in the direction of Envy's padded room.
"I can wait for you to get back. Besides, Hope will scold me again if I get muddy hoofprints in the hall."
Morpheus looked down at Envy. "I shudder to think of what Hope will do to you, cousin, when she sees that hole in the floor."
