Blake’s POV
My first day at a new school, I’m not going to lie, I’m bricking it. I wasn’t popular at my last school, sure everyone knew me because I did a bit of modelling – but I was too much of a “goody-two-shoes” to be part of the it-crowd, and my grades were definitely too good for me to join them. I was hoping this would be a new start for me – maybe I could become popular, get a girlfriend and live happily ever after. Pfft. Yeah right. Red V-neck t-shirt and black chinos… I hope I fit in. I mean, what if I don’t? What if I’m targeted again? Well, at least I know I’m already one of the kids who help out those who have problems. It’s all anonymous of course, nobody discloses their name, or that’s the way it should be anyway; if everyone on the team sticks to that, I have no idea. Actually, I have no idea who “the team” are. I have no idea who anyone is for that matter. Stop it Blake, you’re being an idiot. I thought as I inhaled and exhaled deeply a few times to calm myself down.
I grabbed my rucksack which I’d left in my bag and hurried down the stairs and straight out of the door. No need to tell my parents I was off, they were probably still asleep – for owners of a huge marketing company they don’t work much at all. Never mind, we’re loaded so it’s not like they have to work like most parents. We inherited our riches from my grandfather who died a few years back and my parents decided to start a business to increase our money. Why we actually need as much as they get I don’t know either. Maybe I’ll learn some day when I have a family of my own…
I snapped out of my thoughts just in time as I had almost walked straight into the bus stop sign which I had been heading for. I blushed, even though I knew nobody had seen me, my first day wasn’t going too great so far. Let’s hope it’s not some bad omen which symbolises the rest of the year. I mean, I’ve had 17 years of bad luck now and it’s about time that changed.
And that is when I saw her, she looked nervous… Maybe she goes to the same school as me. Her brown hair wavy hair floated effortlessly down to her waist and her eyes were the warmest chocolate colour I had ever seen. I smiled, just a half smile because I didn’t want to frighten her off by grinning – she might think I’m some crazed pervert or something. God I worry too much.
“Hey, we match!” I laughed as I saw that she was wearing the same colours of me. She beamed at me with the most beautiful, sparkling smile I had ever seen, like nobody had ever spoken to her before. “I’m Blake by the way, just starting at Sunningsbrough High.” I said, holding my hand out to her as a friendly gesture.
