My Fiancé's dog is a hero?

The wedding was never before Matthias was shipped off. He had claimed he wanted something to motivate him to come home. Those first two months were the hardest for both of them. Especially Alfred, the young man had already lost one person in his life because of war, now another was willingly going again. At first Alfred had felt betrayed and hurt by what Matthias had done. Although as time went on Alfred did everything to support his fiancé. He even met with the local veterans support group to make care packages for the troops over seas. Alfred loved making the care packages, always making sure to update Matthias with every movie and new thing out, and also getting his favorite food. It was another sort of connect Alfred had, it made him feel closer to the man he loved so much. Soon Matthias was stationed at a base with Internet and the two started to skype whenever they could. The time difference was hell on both of them, but even though it would be breakfast at Matthias's place and dinner where Alfred was Matthias would eat dinner on skype with his boyfriend. "Hey babe, happy early fourth, I think we're having a day off to enjoy it." Matthias said carefully, knowing that sometimes the skype sound would cut off.
Alfred sat eagerly on the other side of the screen while arranging his microwaved dinner "really? Are you planning to do anything?" He asked curiously and couldn't help but snicker as the other froze on the screen "babe? Can you hear me?"
"I heard you, uh. I don't really know if we're doing much. I think we might have a cook out." Matthias joked and rubbed the back of his neck, knowing fully well  that a cook out would not be the safest to have. A certain Yelp caught both men's attention and Matthias laughed loudly calling "Hero." As he laughed.
"Who are you talking to?" Alfred asked curiously and watched as best as he could. The screen pixelating and freezing "Matt? What's going on?" He asked nervously and relaxed slightly as the other continued to laugh. "Ah alfie don't worry, this is Hero. He's the squad dog, he's going to come home with me when I return." Matthias stated and the screen finally cleared up, on the other side Alfred saw his fiancé and a young looking German Shepard. "He's adorable Matthias."
