Josh Steffens

It was Friday, the last day where Kathryne and I are couples. Everybody believes that me and Kathryne have broken up since we haven't been talking that much and they started to notice that Kathryne have been 'avoiding' me. Even the guys are worried about me. I don't want Kathryne and I to split up so I have a plan.

It was a Friday night. I walked by myself kn the sidewalk, trying to reach Kathryne's place. When I did, I saw her room was lit so I threw a bunch of pebbles at her window to get her attention.

"Psst!" I called out. A few minutes later he opened the window with an annoyed face on.

"What!" She hissed.

"Can you come down?" She rolled her eyes and shut the window.

I guess she doesn't want to talk. I looked at the floor in disappointment. I walked slumply back to the sidewalk, trains of thought started to blur me out.

I heard the door opened. "Psst!" I turned around to find Kathryne on the door signaling me to come back. I had a smile on and ran to her. "Can we talk at the backyard?"

"Yeah, sure." I nodded and we walked to their backyard. Her house was small but was enough for 5 people. We hid behind the shed and I started to talk.

"Kit Kat, I know this is the last day we are 'couples' but the guys still won't believe me. They said we will never last just like my other girlfriends." I started to blabber about the whole they-don't-think-we'll-last thing.

She crossed her arms and exhaled out and looked blankly at the side. "What do you want me to do?" She scowled softly. It wasn't a scowl 'scowl' but a soft one.

"Are you mad at me?" I pouted.

"Of course I am. What do you expect, that I would be perfectly fine about you and I not communicating each other. I care about your reputation Josh and I know everybody knows about me and you and rumors have started saying me and you are off. So if we stop communicating then kiss your reputation goodbye." All in one breath, she said.

"Wait, did you say you care about my reputation?" I teased her.

She crossed her arms again. "Not like that. Heck no!" She started to stutter but laugh it off.

"Well, I want you to be my fake girlfriend.." I hesitated to ask. What I'm about to ask for is too much. Whatever, I'll just give it a try.

"Until we graduate." Her eyes shot open and a face of shockness.

Her brows furrowed. Her eyes started blinking at a faster pace and eyes of disbelief.

"Well, that's too much, Josh."

"I know but now I'll change. I'll text you everyday, call you. Heck, we could even go on a date every single day." I tried to convince her as serous as I can. I may sound desperate but deep inside, I want her to say yes. I am desperate though.

"Uh," she scratched the back of the nape of her neck, trying to think of a response. I was hoping for a yes and if it isn't a yes then I'm expecting a no. But this was her response:

"I'll think about it." And walked out and went back in. All I have to do was wait, but how long? I'm not good with my patience so her answer must be quick.

It has been 4 hours. 4 straight hours of staring at my phone, waiting for her text if she would agree or not. This the first time I'm feeling scared of loosing someone. Well, someone and something. Her and my reputation.
